Hey PNWers, I was just perusing a few websites of the breweries I visited recently in your area, and when I got to Logsdon I saw that effective November 4th they are closed to the public. They were my favorite brewery to visit of the entire trip (which took me through OR, CA, NM, TX, and MO, so that's saying a lot), so I really hope this isn't a permanent thing. Do they do this seasonally because the roads up there may be dangerous in winter? After finding that their Facebook page hasn't been updated since October, I was curious what was going on. I figure this is as good a place to ask as any, so what's up?
Yeah, and I couldn't find any news about it from any of their channels or any news outlets, which is odd.
It really is. I mean, let's not jump to conclusions, as it could be any number of things such as weather, vacation, who knows, but it definitely doesn't sound good. That place is unbeatable for experience. Sitting down, chatting with Mr. Logsdon and his charming Belgian wife over their excellent beers in the shadow of Mt. Hood ranks up there with the best beer experiences of my life. It doesn't get much better than that. Hopefully a local can shed some light on this in the morning.
Some discussion starting with reply#100 on this thread: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...ortland-summer-fall-2014-update.195202/page-3
If they're gone for good, then DAMMIT! I had just figured out that I could probably get one of my co-workers to mule me back some of their beers, since she and her partner generally pass through Hood River 3-4 times a year on route to their cabin.
Hey thanks. A search on Google and BA turned up nothing for me, so I really appreciate it. It appears my assumption of weather was right, so that's a relief. Love them. Cheers!
When we were out there a couple of weeks ago I found out it was closed. So I called. Sounds like whoever runs the taproom is taking a couple week vacation.
Note that right after it says the brewery is closed effective November 4, it says Cerasus will be released around Thanksgiving. So those thinking this indicates the brewery is permanently closed probably have nothing to worry about.
I wish they would say Closed for the Winter or Open in Spring..or just the good old British "shut" The big CLOSED is sort of scary
They might have decided that they just don't want to be open to the public anymore. The tasting room was nothing like other breweries tasting rooms. It had more of a winery feel to it and most of the tasters were poured out of bottles, and wasn't anything that was only available at the brewery. Finding their beer isn't that difficult. So it's not a huge deal if their tasting room is closed permanently.
