Living across the country from Oregon, this has always been a highly sought after beer for me. I've had a few Logsdon brews over the years, and have enjoyed all of them.

This past week, I was finally granted the opportunity to get my hands on the coveted Peche 'n Brett. I purchased a half growler (the largest size being sold from the vendor) and rushed home to consume. Perhaps this is a product of the hype surrounding this beer, but I wasn't thoroughly impressed. The peach was way more subtle than expected; the brett was noticeable though with lots of funk character.

Does anyone who has had prior batches agree with this? Is this year's batch less peachy than prior batches?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but you will probably get a lot more action if you ask the question in the Northwest forum.

An all time favorite of mine, perhaps you had it too cold? I find myself letting the bottle sit for about 20-25 minutes on my counter before opening, and enjoying over the course of an hour or two.

The growler fill introduces a whole bunch of factors as to why it might not be as good as a bottle, or even a fresh glass pour.

I've heard this most recent release wasn't as good as previous versions. Haven't opened my lone bottle yet. Anything with fruit will depend on the quality of the crop as well. Previous years I preferred Peche to Fantasia.

Sorry to hear as I imagine that wasn't the cheapest growler ever

The brewery was sold and the head brewer left. This could be why it's not the same.

Never tried any of their beers and probably won't after the brewer left unless it's given to me.

    Enjoy

    This post is awesome.

I'm going to save it and post it every time someone complains (warranted or not) about the most recent batch of a seasonal release.

One of the best beers I've ever had. Don't know what else to say

I am aware of the head brewer leaving a few months ago, but because this has been on my wish list for so long, felt I still had to purchase. The other ones I've had were all before the sale, and I thoroughly enjoyed those.

Still glad to have had the chance to try it, but most likely will not seek future releases.

The times I've had PnB on tap it's paled in comparison to the bottled versions.

I found this year's batch (on tap) to have much less peach and therefore less sweetness than last year's batch (from bottle). Others I've asked have agreed. Still good but dug last year's so much more. Maybe bottle will be different.

The NW hype machine writing checks the beer can't cash, yet again. When will the rest of the country figure out there's no good beer here and move on?

I've had the newest batch on draft and from the bottle. I feel like both, while having a great peach nose, weren't as fruity/juicy and considerably drier than previous batches. I'd have to imagine completely changing the brewing staff has something to do with it.

Bottom line: Nothing to see here. I'm sure there's a brewery in Chicago or Philly or San Diego making a peach beer worth lining up for. But there are none of those here anymore.

I like the new batch. More real peach and less gummi candy.

had a few of the new bottles so far this year. really liked both of them.

to me, this beer has never been a peach bomb, and is much more of a dry/brett-y beer with subtle peach notes.

    i still think its fantastic

I've had PnB on tap and from bottles a dozen or so times over the past couple of years. I would say 3 of those times it was an unreal funky fruit bomb, truly amazing. 6 of those times it was a really good beer. And another 3 of those times it was it was a good but slightly underwhelming peach sour.

i get what you're asking and why you're asking it, but given PnB is basically a variant of an already world class beer, it's kind of surprising that someone who has enjoyed logsdon's offerings would find this anything short of impressive. that said, i feel like this conversation about PnB happens every year so you're not alone.

have you enjoyed oaked bretta? it's oaked bretta with peach. seizon bretta (the base beer) and oaked bretta are both world class saisons and turd it up on the shelves year round in the PNW. peche n brett is the same beer, except they throw a shit-ton of peaches in it and don't make enough of it. the fact that people seek out PnB but likely skip over OB and SB is laughable but also understandable... peach is awesome, logsdon makes great beers, and everyone loves being a part of something that's fairly exclusive.

i could see the understandable let down when someone drinks it for the first time and says "where's the peach and promise of an amazing beer?". couple that with an expensive price tag and the relentless hype train surrounding coveted beers, let downs are definitely a reasonable outcome.

People go batshit crazy for beer with fruit in it. That's the only thing I can figure. [shrug]

I dunno, the latest batch seemed more like a return to earlier style. The last one was just so overly sweet.

It's not a peach "sour". Brett != sour.
