Headed to London next week and wanted some suggestions on beer spots. I’m hitting the beer mile as well as some other spots (London beer house, temple brew house, the rake, craft beer co). Not sure I will make them all. I’m staying between Hyde Park and Buckingham palace so if anyone has any other recommendations that would be great.

I’m also looking for Verdant cans as I don’t think I’ll make it out to the Experiment. Is there anywhere to find those near me/beer mile?

    TIA

    Hi there.
Hop Locker on the Southbank would be worth checking out. Nearest station is Waterloo. They have a site under Hungerford Bridge (a railway bridge over the river), as well as a stall in the market (behind the Southbank centre) which runs Fri - Sun.
You might find Verdant cans at the market stall, but recently I've found Verdant less available almost everywhere in London, I think due to the brewery expansion they're undergoing. So the best place would definitely be The Experiment, and although it's a bit out of the way it's worth a visit as there's lots of good places around there.
Also The Harp in Covent Garden is decent.

You could also try Caps and Taps, https://www.capsandtaps.co.uk/
A great shop in Kentish Town (North London) , which often has Verdant in. A bit out of the way from where you'll be though

I would definitely try and get to the Experiment if you can, loads of good places to drink in that area (better than most of those you've listed). Verdant sells *really* quickly everywhere else.

You could try Hop, Burns & Black (you can order ahead and collect from their shop) but it isn't particularly convenient for where you are either: https://shop.hopburnsblack.co.uk/collections/england/brewery-verdant-brewing

What places are nearby the Experiment?

Right now my list for beer mile is: Brew by numbers, cloudwater, bottle shop, all good beer and maybe partizan and fourpure.

Probably hitting the Rake too on the way to the Beer mile after the Tate modern.

Other spots I plan on trying to go: the harp, London beer house, temple brew house, craft beer co and Hoplocker (got draft but wasn’t on a weekend so didn’t go to market spot, gonna try and get there Friday before beer mile).

I’m only there from mid day Wednesday until Saturday morning so not sure I’ll make it out to the Experiment.

    Near the Experiment, you've got:
Mother Kelly's E9 (Bottle Shop and bar)
    Clapton Craft (Bottle Shop)
    The **** Tavern (pub)
Beer Merchants (Bottle Shop and bar) - a little further out but worth a visit.

    For the beer mile:
I'd check out Moor, Anspach & Hobday, and The Kernel as well.
Also, I think BottleShop has closed down, as the company went out of business earlier this year.

Planning on hitting the experiment on thursday at open, any reason Friday would be much better? I know they do can releases then but it works better in the schedule to do thursday. I am planning on taking cans home (do they last from week to week?).

In addition to this there is the Pembury Tavern (operated by Five Points) and the Mother Kelly's in Bethnal Green (the original which is a 20-tap bar). Also check out the Kings Arms in Bethnal Green too, probably the best beer fridges in London, they've quite frequently had Cantillon Nath bottles in lately (amongst other things). Oh and craftndraft is in this area too, they get a lot of Deya/Verdant/Northern Monk etc although it does turnover quickly.

BottleShop is definitely gone, sadly :slight_frown: I would swerve A&H personally, Moor is worth a look and Kernel only opens for bottle sales at the moment. You can pick Kernel bottles up elsewhere quite easily too (and you definitely should). My focus for the Beer Mile would be BBNo, Cloudwater and Partizan, followed by Moor and Fourpure if you have time.

Definitely don't miss the Harp if you haven't been before. Best pub in London. Craft Beer Co pubs are great too (there are a few around now)

They'll definitely have cans from the previous week if you go on a Thursday, they sell but it's nothing like what you get in the States. Worth trying Pressure Drop while you're there too, some of their latest beers have been good.

Just making sure you know that The Experiment is open from 5-10pm on Thursdays.
I don't think there should be much difference in what day you go, they're sure to have plenty of cans in stock

Cool, guess it will be a game time decision based on what they announce for next week. Original plan was to do tate modern, shakespeare globe, the rake, lunch at brigadiers, tower bridge and tower of london (not sure about actually going into globe or tower of london, already been to tower before but wife hasnt) then london beer mile. Trying to cram the experiment in there on friday would be hard, would have to move tate modern and other stuff to day before.

Just been past The Hop Locker stall in the Southbank market and they've got a few Verdant cans - Even Sharks Need Water, Bear With Me and Wow.
Plus loads of stuff from Cloudwater, Left Handed Giant and Odyssey breweries, amongst others

If I like cloudwater and verdant, what other breweries should I look for? I know northern monk and wylam are supposed to be good. Are left handed giant mad odyssey similar?

Northern Monk, Wylam, Left Handed Giant and Odyssey are all decent and worth checking out.
I'd also recommend Wander Beyond, Deya, Black Iris and North Brewing.

The top 5 UK breweries I'd be looking out for are Cloudwater, Verdant, Deya, Northern Monk and Wylam. Especially Cloudwater is not just a top UK brewery, but one of the best breweries in the world, in my opinion. Other breweries worth checking out are The Kernel, especially for their Stouts, Wild Beer Co., especially for their Sours, Siren, Tiny Rebel, Left Handed Giant and Buxton.

I'll be in London next week, staying at the Apex London Wall hotel, any suggestions for spots near there? Will definitely be looking up some of the places mentioned in this thread, thank you!

Not too far from your hotel, you could try
Beer Hawk Charterhouse (pub and bottleshop)
    The Old Red Cow (pub)
    The Dovetail (Belgian bar)
