Of the larger breweries. Fullers is definitely worth a visit, but remember to pre-book! Along the Bermondsey Beer Mile, several micro breweries are open for visitors, at least on certain days.
The Bermondsey Beer Mile is definitely the place to be for breweries. I’ve visited Cloudwater, Brew by Numbers, and London Beer Project. All unique, and all enjoyable. Plan to hit more this summer when I’m back in town.
Just echoing the above and saying that Bermondsey was awesome. We started at The Kernel which is on the far end and just walked back towards London getting a beer at every brewery. I think we by the time we'd walked a quarter mile we couldn't drink any more.
I'm going to London later this year for the first time in over 10 years. Kernel is a must visit and German Kraft Brewery looks very interesting as well, never had their beers but I like every micro breweries who make traditional beers.
I have the Bermondsey on my list for post-Marathon in April...I'll be in town before and after the race, is it going to be worth planning multiple trips there?
It depends on how desperate you are to get as many ticks as possible in a short time. If that is your main goal, multiple trips to the Bermondsey Beer Mile might be a good idea. But when I've been to London, I've always wanted to soak up the traditional pub atmosphere, and to just wander around and find "unknown" pubs in a nice area, even if that means sampling quite a few cask ales that I've also had previously. And then I've not even mentioned that London has quite a few attractions besides the beer ....
