Was going to Subject Title it "London Help" but couldn't help show my Joe Strummer Love!
Calling out to any BAs in, around or that know London. My cousin is going for work soon here. I didn't talk to him for too long about it yet, but any help will do.

Is there any beer in or around London that probably doesn't make it across the pond, that is a Must for me to have him try and track down? Gimme your opinions and ideas. Last time a buddy of mine went to London he went to Fuller's and brought back a '97 Vintage Ale and it was absolutely phenomenal! We get those here but that was my first chance to that old of a vintage.

Thanks for any info and help. Cheers!

the obvious answer is Cask Conditioned Beer, and of that there is far too much to list. Seriously that's what UK beer is about, Real Ale. Tell him to pick up either a Good Beer Guide or Des De Moors London Pub Guide and he wn't go too far wrong.

Shit. Just re-read my post. I meant for him to get to bring back home to the states. Not for him to drink there. I'm sure he won't have a problem with that. Thanks!

There are over 900 breweries in the UK currently if I recall from a previous post. Many if not most of those do not bottle. The beer culture is based on the pub and on comraderie. I would 2nd the suggestion for your cousin to pick up a GBG/Pub Guide and explore for himself rather than spend too much time looking for bottles to cart home. It's a 1ce/lifetime experience for most, and I never have understood the compulsion to shop an experience away rather than becoming immersed in it while there. There are bottle shops that your cousin can find. But be fair and tell him not to spend too much time there--it's just not the best side of the place.

Also, there are only 4 pages of historical threads in the UK/Ireland forum. Just 4. The following London-specific threads are among them (in chrono order) and have many good suggestions. Not hacking at you in particular vonzipper, but it is a pet peeve of mine that Americans come on here and ask about London and/or Edinburgh without seeing what has already been said, as if nobody has ever discussed such a thing before.

As like you guys over there, we have amazing craft beer bars, taverns, pubs or whatever. Unless you are in a city and or are close to them it's a little tougher here to have the close, tight knit pub camaraderie you guys have. What we seem to do to make up for that is we have pretty much all our amazing beer in bottle or growler and we do bottleshares with friends and fellow BAs at our homes. This gives us the same type of camaraderie in a more personal setting where the host usually provides food and everyone brings new and/or great bottles.

Sorry it's a pet peeve of yours but I had no interest in wasting time and digging in the archives to hopefully find someone with the exact same question or looking for the same info as me. I'd rather ask a direct question and get direct answers. I'm always happy to offer any info to someone in need. Thanks you guys for any and all info you've given. Cheers!

I think his point was that you would have found your info quicker if you had scrolled down/clicked that little number 2.
Beer "cameraderie" isn't a competition either.
