I'm heading to Long Beach in a few weeks and am seeking a good bar/pub or two with some great beers on tap. Staying near Shoreline Drive - obviously closer is better, though I'm willing to travel for a few good pints.

I see a Yard House in the neighborhood, though am also looking for "local flavor".

F yard house. Beachwood Brewing & BBQ is your place. And Congregation Alehouse is just a few doors down.

Beachwood has an amazing selection of guest taps, but make sure you get your fill of their beers. They make some of the best beers in the state. And their food is amazing too.

Rock Bottom? No offense, but I can't imagine recommending Rock Bottom to someone out from the east coast looking for "local flavor". Unless they have a ton of guest taps, then maybe. But they're a huge chain and their beer is awful. I haven't been to the LB Rock Bottom, maybe I'm missing something??

They do have guest taps, the food is good and it's right by where he is staying just trying to give him as many options as possible. Last year their brewmaster Hayley Shine left to the Chicago RB and she made some good beers, haven't been back since to try the new guy out.

Beachwood, Congregation, Stache, and Federal Bar for sure, in that order. I would pass on Rock Bottom (not terrible, but not unique to the LBC), and the Stave. Heard good things about Rebel Bite for beer selection and food, but haven't been there myself. Also, Public Beer and Wine Shop is new and I hear they have bottles and beer on tap. Stearns Liquor is a must for "souvenirs" to take home with you. Enjoy!

Heard good things about Anal house, although I hear it's a tight squeeze sometimes.
