I will be spending about two days on the island visiting family, I will be in the Wading River - Port Jefferson area. I was hoping for some help in finding some local beers to enjoy and bring home with me. Considering my time constraints and the fact that I want to spend time with the family I was hoping for some advice on good beer stores that are either in the area or right off the LI expressway as I drive there. Also if you have some advice on what I should keep my eyes open for as well as any don't miss brews. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have checked the Beerfly area but not being local I am not sure where any of these places are without map questing every store. Thanks!!!
Bring along some empty growlers. From my experience, most of the solid Beverage spots have taps to fill them and many are local breweries. 32oz. or 64oz. Thanks for the help!!! Any idea which store may have a better selection (Riverhead Beverage or Port Jeff Beverage). I was hing to find a place that sells singles. I think I will only have time to stop by one place. Some breweries that I have jotted down to keep an eye out for are Port Jeff Brewery, Long Ireland, Ithaca (Flower Power), Allagash, Captain Lawerence, Peak Organic, Bar Harbour. Any other stand outs that I am likely to not find outside of the Northeast??
I just did a trade with a guy in OH. Look for Maine, Nebraska, Cascade and we get Kuhnhenn 4D here so keep an eye out for that. Other side of the island from where you are staying is Bellport Beer, great place.
