Right? I had the DDH Black Cat last year and it blew my mind.

I drank the Isosceles Dimension first last night. I tend to go from low to high abv when I am drinking and rating multiple beers in a night. That beer is great!
I don't know if it is because I haven't had any Long Live in a while or what but I really enjoyed it. The mouth feel was super nice. It was almost creamy and packed with flavor. I thought it was certainly better than the last few batches of Julius I have had.
The Untappd rating is below a 4.2 right now but I would give it at least a 4.3. Maybe all the Long Live raters are spoiled.
I drank the All Seeing Eye second and, although it was amazing, the Isosceles may have hurt my palate a bit. I think I will drink it first tonight before posting my thoughts.

I was right, ASE was much better as the first beer of the night. Incredible brew. That Isosceles must really pack a palate punch.

Anyone with any extra Goodnight, Dear for trade? I live like 30 minutes away in CT. I had it in my cart when I was leaving work last night at Midnight but figured I'd just wait until the morning to complete the order. ANDDDD when I woke up at 9:30 it was already gone.

I didn't check my email last night for the mailing list heads up, then I saw the facebook post earlier today it was sold out before posting to the website. Ah well. Hurry Sundown was the first barrel release several years ago and still one of my faves, can't say anything since has topped it.

Didn’t want to clog up the Trillium thread...

If you’ve had Fox Farm, how do LL hoppy beers compare/contrast?

Never made the trip I once envisioned.

I wasn’t asked... but I prefer Long Live hops to Fox Farm, but both are very good. I really enjoy Long Lives yeast character. Fox Farm is great too and they nail the classics. Long Live can’t compete there yet

I compared Fox Farm haze with Tree House haze somewhere here not too long ago. The same comparisons apply with Tree House being swapped out for Long Live but right now I would take Long Live over Tree House.
I drink Tree House more than the other two combined so maybe the limited access plays a part in how much I like the other two.
So, Fox Farm haze is cleaner and more subtle with good expression of the individual hops used. Long Live haze has bolder flavors and a creamier mouthfeel. Both are great in their own way. Also, Fox Farm tends to brew more single IPAs and Long Live tends to brew more doubles. I am doing my best to compare single to single and double to double in my memory but that is easier said than done.

Comparison is open to all...I just picked those two BAs from the Trillium posts about LL.

    Thanks for the opinions.

I'm a huge fan of Fox Farm, but due to the drive (over an hour) I haven't had it nearly as much as Long Live. Right now I would put Long Live ahead as far as hoppy offerings. I don't want to be redundant, I think @YourDigitalGrave summed up the comparison perfectly.

I know we're just talking about hoppy stuff, but I feel FF runs circles around LL as far as lagers/porters, etc. are concerned and I tend to focus on those styles when I'm there (for something different).

Honestly, I would pick going to either Long Live or Fox Farm over Trillium/Tree House. I don't have any issues with Tree House (my issues with Trillium are well documented on that thread), it's more about convenience and the fact that I enjoy these breweries just as much as TH at this point.

    Thanks @Celtics76!
I’m fortunate to live close to FF and their portfolio is the majority of my consumption. Been exploring the trip to LL as an occasional brewery to mix in with FF. It’s actually a greater distance than TH but the beer is more enticing. Will report back once I visit.

I've been enjoying LL for sure, but would probably rank the handful of Super Saturated cans I have from TH just ahead of their recent stuff. For example I am having an All Seeing Eye currently and it finishes sweet to me straight through, where I get a slight bitterness maybe borne from slight tartness of the mango addition from the Super Sats. As mentioned in the FF thread I'm picking up an assortment of beers from FF in the next week so I'll be interested in a "reset" since I recall those lean more towards the HF/Vermont IPA realm than the Trill/TH softness/cloudiness.

I ordered on Tuesday when they still had House on a Mountain. I got that plus All Seeing Eye and Kittens Inspired by Kittens. I picked up today and saw they released Poets in the Night today without a previous mention so I grabbed that too.

I don't make it there often so I am pumped. Total score!

House on a Mountain is great. DDH Kittens Inspired by Kittens is absolutely killer! No surprise there. All Seeing Eye and Poets in the Night tonight.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of long live’s stuff.. but I’m curious why double dry hopping *everything* seems to be the new big trend. Is it necessary? I’ve found that not every beer benefits from DDH treatment. For example, tilted barn— DDH Chosen one is brilliant , and transforms the base recipe. DDH The Other One acruallly kills most of the juicy expressive hop flavor and just leaves the bitter hop punch which to me defeats the purpose. This might be a hot take, but it seems like a lot of DDH these days

I think it's mostly a marketing tactic but there are some beers that definitely improve from it

Yeah, I'd probably add it is not necessarily one size fits all. There's probably only one or two Long Live beers I haven't enjoyed the DDH version, but it's the opposite with Tilted Barn, there is only one or two I HAVE enjoyed with theirs.

agreed... not to get off-topic, but back before trillium made their god-awful recipe changes, most of their DDH beers were incredibly enjoyable and well done I thought. I find myself less excited generally by the DDH releases from anywhere... with a few specific exceptions (like Chosen One from Tilted)

I don't really give it much thought. I tend to get whatever a brewery has when I go. I don't get any more excited for DDH and I'm not disappointed if a place doesn't have one when I go.
As for the trend, I don't think it is as crazy as a few years ago. I definitely think places use the terminology less. People also forget that Tree House, the most popular haze factory around, has a ton of DDH stuff. They just don't call it that.

Went into providence yesterday and stopped by to pickup some cans for the first time. Couldn’t get a reservation for a table. Not terribly impressed by DDH kittens or the all seeing eye. Both are very sweet. Not bad beer I just need more bitterness. Definitely will check out the tap room when it opens up looks pretty nice in there. Had high hopes feel pretty let down given the hype.

on a side note made it to bayberry beer hall and had can of other half DDH space diamonds which was incredibly mediocre given the hype on them. Wasn’t enamored with the draft list but they had cans of burst from fox farm which is always phenomenal.

will go on the record as saying I prefer Widowmaker to long live based on what I’ve had
