After my imtenth time visiting I need to put a plug in for Long Trail Brewpub.
While LT may not have the "best" must have beers in VT they do a GREAT job at the Pub. Food is locally sourced and real good. Staff is super friendly, been there numerous times and it is constantly great.
Nothing wrong with getting Limbo from the source.
Anyone visiting Southern Vermont should make a point to visit.

I will second this. The food has always been great and the beers at the brewpub are always great. every time we hit VT we try to do lunch here.

Thirded. My go-to spot after a day at Killington.

Nice place. Good staff. Ok food. Reason to go is the Brown Bags. Unreleased test brews. Chance to see a very conservative large micro get their freak on.

Love going to Long Trail in the summer and sitting on the deck.

Can't disagree. Of course, I'm bias. I grew up in Rutland and me and my groomsmen went to lunch there hours before I got married. Nevertheless, it's a fun place and, regardless of what you think of their beers (besides maybe a couple), it's worth stopping in.

I haven't been yet and from what I've ready elsewhere online along with here, it seems like a solid place to go visit. Might need to plan a cruze there with a few of my Car friends since we've all been meaning to get out to a few more breweries this year than we did last year.

Not exactly sure but the server said the cheese in the queso dip was local and the sausage in it was from a farm down the street.
Went back again on Friday and had their Green Thumb DIIPA and it was great.

Love that place. Some of my best Vermont memories on road trips with friends centered around dropping in there.

They are always doing their" Brown Bag" series that are only available on tap at the brewery or select locations. I think it was #10 last year that was a 3ish percent Berliner that kicked ass.

Some of the best breweries in the upper part of the state to visit beacuse they offer more than just beer:

    Lost Nation
    Otter Creek
    Long Trail
    Harpoon
    Trapp
    Rock Art
    Magic Hat
    Bobcat
    Citizen Cider
    Vermont Pub & Brewery
    Prohibition Pig Brewery
    American Flatbread/ Zero Gravity
    Crop
    Jasper Murdocks

You make the call on the beer, some awesome, some just ok, but fun stops none the less.

My apologizes to the ones that I have missed.

The riverside deck they have is amazing on a sunny spring day - one of the best places I have ever enjoyed a beer. Hell, they could serve low fat milk and I'd still be in a happy place.

I have a very fond memory last October of a beautiful day and my grand daughter throwing stones in the river. It would have been nice to have a little plastic cup so I could have a beer on the rocks. Having 99% of what I want in life is ok. It is a beautiful spot in an area with many beautiful spots.

Many fond memories of chilling at the Long Trail brewery during weekend trips in late September/Early October.

My avatar pic was taken from the deck a few winters ago, I 'm thinking I need to go back soon.

The pub is cool post Killington but the last few trips I've hit the worthy burger instead. LT will never compete w the big boys until they stop brewing w that vile Ringwood yeast.

Great beer can be made with Ringwood. Even Shaun Hill will admit that, as he has used it in the past. The problem is the attitude of most of the breweries that choose to use it. If they would respect the stuff and work with it instead of wanting to pump out beer every 2 days, quality would improve.
