I'm on the lookout for it. I thought this was bombers only but I guess its not. Doesnt say 6 or 4 packs though but at 7.6% abv Im guessing its 4 packs.

LT is presently serving it on tap at their brewhouse and soon at select locations in Vermont. I believe they intend to bottle and distribute it in December. Not sure if it's going to be a year round offering.

Supposedly a bigger version of the first Brown Bag American IPA they released. The packaging is pretty nice too. They're going to be going through a big rebranding and changing stuff up. Next Brush and Barrel release is a Dark Chocolate Porter called Culmination, which ill say I'm anxious to try.

Was not impressed at all with their standard IPA offering.

Agree. But their brewmaster DIPA was very good IMO especially considering the price.

I had one today - it's on tap at 5 Olde in South Royalton. Pretty nice, a change from their normal style which was great to see. Light and drinkable, but not quite HT. 16oz. pour

I wouldn't judge LT on that beer. First, it's English in style, and second, their big bottles show they have a deft hand in brewing. Brown Bag was a bug league IPA

I think a rebranding and some shifts in their lineup with help LT get back in the game.

I'll defend their IPA since Ive had it quite a few times and I like it. If you want a decent ipa that you can pound 4-6 of them its a good one to go with. Its hoppy but too tooy hoppy and too bitter. Its not complex but its smooth and easy drinking. Its not bad really IMO.

I was going to say something to this effect. It certainly doesn't taste English to me. However, I had three on the golf course last week and they were just the right combo of smooth and flavorful. If I was going to have one beer at home tonight I wouldn't pick the IPA. I think an earlier comparison to Harpoon is fair, although I'd take the Long Trail.

Are we talking about the same beer? I'm talking about Long Trail IPA ( yellow package of six). That one is an English IPA, no doubt

LT calls it a traditional English IPA, and that's how it is listed on BA. Surely I'm not the only one who sees it this way

Fwiw, I had limbo last weekend and it's fanfuckingtastic. It's closer to a Lawson's than anything LT has done before. I think they took notes when OC made double dose.

Tried it at Beervana last night. I thought it was excellent. Much different than their regular IPA, so don't use that as a measuring stick as some have suggested.

Had this at a beer fest yesterday, unbelieveable. Can't say enough about how good this beer was. Right up there with some of the top VT ipas. Well done Long Trail. The rep said it would be out in limited markets in December

Harpoon IPA was an IPA 20 year ago, and it's an IPA today. If this is your mentality going forward, you'll be referring to Heady Topper as just a nice balanced IPA in 10 years.

Why wait 10 years - Heady is nicely balanced today.

But my point with LT/Harpoon IPA is if you set your expectations to that of a pale ale, you will be pleasantly rewarded with a nice beer. If you are expecting it to be anywhere near the hopping levels of Heady or other bomb IPA's of the day, you will be dissapointed.
