Don't be so negative. For those keeping score at home, Limbo is rated "92" on BA and Kiwi Rising is a "96".

I don't get the hype. I thought it was middle of the road at best. As others have mentioned, the amount of great hop-forward beers that we massholes have access to means that I'll likely never be grabbing this one again.

12/16 batch I recently picked up wasn't nearly as good as an earlier batch that hit my area. This had more signature LT yeast character flavor and less hoppiness. Hopefully they can dial in consistent hoppy goodness.

Those IPA's are as different as Somerville, Cambridge, Brookline, and Back Bay.

If $2 per serving of IPA is too much for you, then yeah, stick to those SA 12 packs.

Tasted like getting hit by a grapefruit truck. In other words, awesome!

lol and you call yourself a BA? It's one of the more affordable offerings for a good craft beer. I bet you felt like you drank a whole 12pk of SA off of a 6er.
Edit: Why is it cheaper in RI than Vermont where it is brewed?

This beer is DANK. Had it again the other day at Doherty's in Warwick. Really good on draft. Fruity, spicy, and earthy as hell.

Why the trolling? I never said that it was a bad beer.

Just busting balls. (drunk posts. it's BEERadvocate) Everyone knows this shit is expensive. Whether it's good or not. I have 3 bottles and haven't tried it yet.

The price wasn't even listed so I assumed it was the same as other LT 6 packs. I don't keep track of receipts or else I would have realized that it was beyond the budget I was operating with.

I would love to see Long Trail continue to refine their IPAs. Limbo is a good step in the right direction. I don't expect every VT brewery to be the Alchemist as it would greatly diminish their ability to stand out.

I picked up a 6-pack of this at the brewery last weekend and have only had one since then. Based on my limited first impressions, I wasn't very impressed. Didn't seem to have the hop explosion that people have been describing (certainly not a grapefruit explosion similar to Sucks, or anything like that). Almost seemed to have a dirty taste to it, to me. I'll be drinking the rest of them. Maybe it will grow on me.

Great beer from another VT brewery. Comparing them to the other SMALL breweries in VT that predominantly focus on artisinal and truly world class IPA/etc just isn't fair. Long trial has a business plan and many other offerings that cater to different tastes. They need to be competitive with the Sams, Sierras, Stones, etc. Comparing a VERY good IPA they make at the commercial level that is easily accessible and in 6 packs is a far cry from straight from the tank into growler or straight off the canning line to consumer. It's just not the same. I still stand by my word that as great as a lot of these beers are that are coming out of VT, MA, CT, and other areas there will be some big shake up in the next 3-5 years. In the end the guys and gals who can produce good beer, consistently, in large quantities, and who can afford the even growing prices of ingredients will stick it out. I'm very curious to see who doesn't make it and who sells off. I HOPE it doesn't come down to that, but I'm very curious to see. Owning and running a profitable small business can burn anyone out.

It's not the mini-Heady or Heady Jr. as a lot of people were tossing out when it first came out. It never was, but everyone wants a heady replacement that's easier to get. That's why every IPA that comes out is compared to it, and often in a (falsely) positive manner. It's a nice IPA from a brewery that is trying to step up thier game.

There have been some batch variation issues that always has the beer flipping between being good and very good. It's a good IPA that's easy to get and seems to move in a reasonably quick manner. Something the area needs more of. People just like to get carried away.

Bought some again recently and confirmed my view that it's the best IPA regularly available in six-pack form in the area. That includes Sculpin, which is $5 more a six pack, and rarely as fresh. It deserves to be a hit.

I'd add Dirtwolf in the 'best IPA regularly available in six-pack form in the area'

    Just my 2 cents....

If it wasn't a DIPA in a four pack, I'd agree.

I first had Limbo on draft in Middlebury last fall and thought wow long trail has finally hit the big time with this beer. I then found it early last spring in bottles and quickly bought a 6 pack. I was greatly disappointed in this as it was not any where near the beer I had gotten on draught. A couple months later I decided to give it another chance and still found it greatly disappointing. I don't think I would waste my money to buy it again.
