Ehh Kind Ryed has the whole 70's hippie thing going on and I think I prefer the cartoon animals. :flushed:

agree. speaking more about Limbo. Kind Ryed hippie stoner peace theme is silly and tired.

I'm more offended that it wasn't all that great. All I could taste was OC's yeast profile.

I am no beer expert, but to me, Limbo tastes almost exactly like Heady Topper.

After all the hoopla about this beer I finally saw it and grabbed a six pack. The comparisions to Heady are a bit much. Limbo in a far more approachable beer. Great nose, and the taste is lovely but not the punch in the face of hops that Heady brings. And as much as Heady hides its 8% abv, Limbo hides its 7.6% even more. Super easy to drink (hence I'm on my 3rd on a Monday).

I'd still pick IPAs from the "big 3" when available, but Limbo's quality and value proposition for an every day IPA is tough to beat.

Had a few pours at the GIBF in Providence a few weeks ago, it was very good. Smelled similar to Heady.

Haha thanks, I do what I can.

But seriously, I opened 1 tonight while the wife and I watched some Parks N Rec on Netflix, next thing I know I'm cracking open the last of 3 that remained from Monday when I bought the sixer. I don't know what it is exactly about this beer but its like frigging Lays chips, I can't have just one.

I'm probably over-hyping it and when it finally gets to the rest of New England people will say it doesn't live up to the hype. So I apologize in advance for that. But if I'm walking into a liquor store looking for a quality IPA (at a good price) thats readily available, this is the obvious answer.

No apologies necessary. Never hurts to have another readily available, quality, non cost prohibitive IPA on the shelf. Definitely have my eyes out for this one because of this thread.

I dont think you're over-hyping it at all. I had it at a beer fest over a month ago, and I cant stop thinking about it. Send some down to CT please?

I think that's the Australian/New Zealand hops used in Limbo and Kiwi. I can't remember Kiwi's hops, but I'm pretty sure both use hops from that region. It also reminds me a little of Kiwi too. I remember thinking that at the time, but I couldn't remember which Lawson's but now that you mentioned Kiwi, I also tasted a similar (but not exact) taste.
