When I am back home in northern California and my wife is trying to get me to slow down I will order a Russian River sour. It take me at least a half hour to finish one. I can just not chug a sour beer.

It's worth it if you like really boozy beers. I, however, am not a fan.

For the record, though, I had the non-BA SN Bigfoot the other day, and freaking loved it.

My Dad, when he had reached his 90s still liked a drop of beer.He would open a bottle, pour out a glass and wedge the crown cork back on top of the bottle.Next day he had a little more and if he didn't finish it then he finished it on the third day.
What surprised me was that even after a couple of days the beer still had adequate carbonation and if anything tasted better than when first opened.

Older Viscosity took me a whole playoff hockey game. Not bad for a 375ml.

Tried to remember what it was. I believe it was likely a Guinness Extra Stout with an old wine cork shoved in it. Those were a splurge--probably close to $1 each!! I really can't tell you if I enjoyed it, not sure why I wouldn't have finished it in the first place. Funny what memories can pop up on these threads.

Weren't many options in 1989-90 time frame in the south. Bud et al and some "imports" as we called them--that evil "dark beer."

Usually takes me around two hours to drink a bomber of 10-15% imperial stout but probably only an hour to drink a bomber of a double IPA just because it tastes better cold.

Three or so hours for a bottle of Black Ops a few years ago. I was chatting up the folks at the bar beside me so I wasn't in a big hurry. That's probably the only time I've ever conquered, or even attempted, an entire BA stout bottle (over 12oz) by myself.

One hour for my first beer of the night which is usually a two hearted. After that its a sn hop hunter or nb ranger that lasts for 30 min. Then it gets quicker as the night gets older.

The time I came home with a 4 pack of KBS. I decided to reward myself with one bottle. Took 2 1/2 hours to finish.

My drinking pace is like my mountain running pace. Lower gravity beer I can generally pound through fairly quickly, though I often take my time with sours/amazing stuff (like running above treeline, sometimes you just stop and enjoy!). As the beer gets bigger and sweeter, I take longer to drink it, just like running uphill or rocky/technical terrain. It's also mood dependent, like running. Some days I'm just not feeling it and that big stout is a chore to get down. Really sweet beer tends to slow my pace to a crawl as well. A big sweet 12%+ stout/strong ale/barleywine/etc can take me all night or even end up down the drain. My big stout whale hunting is just about over after being continuously disappointed by stupidly sweet, practically undrinkable stouts.

So the short is, it depends. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow, usually somewhere in between.

10 minutes if I am reviewing a beer to post on BA! a couple big gulps to develop the feel and smaller sips to develop the subtlety.

Now that I think of it, I have never clocked myself. I might have to start paying a bit of attention to this.

Once shared a bottle with my buddy on vacation, think it took us about 4 1/2 hours to kill it, kind of boozy
It was a handle of Barbados Rum.

I can nurse a Imperial stout in the winter for 20-30 minutes to enjoy the flavor changes as it warms up. If I take two hours, the four pack is gone
