Having a Founders IS right now, right on the nose with it sticking to your ribs. I don't know if its because of the age, but i don't remember it being this thick the first time I had it.

You are a man after my own heart - I also really enjoy a big stout that has a full, heavier mouth feel, or what I often describe as "mouth coating". I'm going to mention a bunch here in a moment - but there are a few things you can do to enhance the "stick to your rib-edness" for this style -

Age - aging will round off the hops and the carb, and enhance the smooth mouthfeel.
Temperature - drink them at cellar temp, or at about 50+. More flavor, feels a bit heavier too.
Glassware - get a good snifter, which will direct the aroma to your nose during each quaff.

    Now for my choices:

Stone RIS - very creamy and nearly mouth coating.
Bell's Expedition Stout - one of my favorites, thick and rich, age does wonders to this RIS!
Great Lakes Blackout Stout - Great flavors, but drink this one at cellar temp to enhance mouthfeel
FIS/Founders Imperial Stout - This WILL stick to your ribs, the best weight and mouthfeel, period.
Ten Fidy - don't let the can throw you, there be motor oil inside, a delicious RIS.
Sierra Nevada Narwhal - a very close 2nd to FIS, 1+ year of age = nirvana.
FBS/Founders Breakfast Stout - drink it warmer, very good mouthfeel here, oats lend creaminess.
Serpent's Stout (Lost Abbey) - smokey and fruity with a hint of soy sauce, bold flavors here!
BCBS (Bourbon County Brand Stout) - a different animal, a bourbon barrel aged stout - BUT, it is thick
and VERY rich and mouthcoating - it is my avatar, seek it out and find out why, DO IT!!!

A few honorable mentions are the Blackwater Series by Southern Tier, i/e Choklat, Oat, Mokah, Creme Brulee - these aren't quite as thick per say, but are very rich and smooth, and will satisfy your sweet tooth for sure.

Many others mentioned here are great too, especially by Great Divide and Hoppin Frog. Have fun trying some of these recommendations, and enjoy the journey. Cheers my fellow sticky-stout aficionado!

I am not a huge fan of Hopping Frog, I find the _ORIS series to be underwhelming most of the time. However, I really like DORIS. Pricey without a doubt, but I think its tasty.

The best thick stouts are called "porters".

Seriously though, is thickness really a selling point to you? Or is it really the richness you are after?
Harviestoun Ola Dubh (pick a year) is very rich, and incredibly satisfying. I wouldn't call it thick, though.

I've had many, many stouts in my day. The most viscous stout I have ever tried is Brash Smoglifter. Some RIS's (Ten FIDY, Even More Jesus) come close, but Smoglifter is the one if mouthfeel is what you're after.

Not sure why barrel aged stouts are being listed here. They're among the thinnest stouts, IMO. But that is just my opinion.

A fantastic beer is Zyweic Porter. Even though its a porter it drinks just like a stout. Super thick heavy rich and bold plus it has the best price point. You can pick up a 16.9oz for 2.50

I used to think the same thing until I drank Heady Topper from the can; there was still lots of perceived aroma from that drinking experience. I am unsure whether it is appropriate to generalize to other canned beer from that Heady Topper experience.

    Cheers!

    Uinta's Labyrinth is really thick
(and yes i know its listed as a "quad" in some places but it has also won beer competions in the stout categories and there's not a hint of Belgian yeast)
Anywya its year round and super thick and really delicious. 'Course at 13% its nothing to be taken lightly.

BCBS is the thickest stout I've had to date. not sure why so many people are saying Ol Raspy. I love it to death but I've always thought it to be a bit thin.

Agreed. My personal rule of thumb, if it has a white head and it claims to be a stout, I will not drink it.
