Anybody got any suggestions for a low ABV stout/porter with a large roast presence? Preferably something with wide distribution? I'm looking to try a little blending experiment....

I'll keep thinking because this one is 6.5%, but Founders Porter has a lot of roastiness.

Agreed and I've actually done this particular blending experiment with Founders Porter before, with good results

Its been a long time since I've had it, would Shakespeare stout work?

Kalamazoo? Probably not terribly roasty, been a little while.

Good luck with the search at those ABV limits, tough. I think Foothills BA People Porter is around that level though, all barrel and oak, not much on the roast, local here so that doesn't help you much. Agree with Hop Droppen about Kalamazoo, love the bit of licorice hit with this one, easily available.

Tree House That's What She Said is a nice roasty milk stout and is like 5.4% ABV.

TJs oatmeal stockyard stout might work for you.

Fuller's London porter (5.4 % ABV) is widely available and delicious.

Firestone Walker's Velvet Merlin (5.5%) isn't as widely available, but is also a great choice. It's a bit more chocolately & roasty compared to Fuller's.

Black House would be perfect but it's only on Cali or through online shopping
