Disclaimer: I am well aware that a MUG is not the 'recommended' glassware for many/most beer styles, and that I am most likely doing myself a disservice by using a mug indiscriminately for any beer I drink. While I'm new to craft beers, my friend is experienced and has berated me with this point many times. But the bottom line is: I drink for my own enjoyment, and I enjoy drinking from a mug.

    My only requirements are:
    -has a handle
    -12oz. or 16oz.
    -not crazy expensive
-mostly clear for viewing the beer (no ceramic/stainless)

Anyone have any recommendations? Links or websites on where to find them would also be appreciated. Amazon is just a mess of generic team logo mugs and really plain mug sets.

has some good ones that ship fairly quickly as I got my thistle from their website here in AK within a week of ordering.

Though I didn't buy a mug off of them, but as I look through their mugs, at least in my opinion, I think you could be impressed with what they have to offer. Yes, they have some "logo"-esque type looking mugs, I do see some cool looking German ones.

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with "mugs." IMO, they're best with browns, porters and stouts.

That fits pretty well with my tastes so far. I've been exploring some IPAs and DIPAs, but generally prefer the higher ABV stouts, some porters, and wee heavy/scotch ales.

IMO, and as far as I know what this website recommends is for the higher ABV-ed beers to be consumed in snifters, tulips, chalices (i.e. certain scientifically proven glassware) to assist in picking up certain nuances the brewer intended in those beers, but if you don't review, then I say who cares. Drink what you like and don't let anyone on here to tell you otherwise.

Aw heck, I've been known to put IPA's in mugs just to rock the boat just a tad. I'm sure "somebody's face cringes" just a bit. But I'll end up making sure is in its respected beer glassware before its reviewed, just me.

I really appreciate the reviews on BA, but as I said, I'm new to the craft game, and I'd be doing the beers and the real BA'ers a disservice to review at this point. I'm still in the "finding what I like" phase, and I' positive my palate isn't developed enough for the glassware to make a noticeable difference in my enjoyment.

In Amazon, try search for "dimple(d) beer mug" and both the classic UK mug (pints and half pints) and German "Mass" type mugs (traditionally 1l., and other sizes) will show up, most w/o logos.

For me, the primary reason for using something like a snifter is that it captures aroma better, and smell is like 70% of your sense of taste or some ridiculous percentage, so in effect, it might actually help you enjoy beer better. Plus, a decent snifter is as easy as checking out your local Goodwill/Salvation Army.
