I'm on a search to buy an eclectic collection of beers for a friend. He is turning 60 and would like a six pack of beer from every country he has visited (a list of 40+ countries). I live in Atlanta and have been able to gather many of them from Tower and the Buford Highway Farmer's market. Having a devil of a time, especially with Georgia's monopolistic distribution policies, finding the rest though. I was sent to this site in hopes of getting some leads from all the beer afficionados!

Here are the countries I haven't been able to gather:
Bulgaria, Chile, Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary, Northern Ireland (not Republic of Ireland, aka, Harp or Guiness), Norway, Peru, Portugal, Romania, and Switzerland.

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting beer from these countries?

I would try HopCity in West Midtown. I would try to go at a time when they would be less busy, i.e. within a couple of hours of opening on a weekday. If they can't check any off of your lists ask them if beers from those countries are available in GA and if so who is the distributor? Then you can call the distributor directly. HopCity has a second location in Birmingham, AL there are some different beers available there and a phone call there might yield even more info at least on a distributor.

The distributor can tell you which accounts get the beers you're looking for. I have found distributors to be very helpful in letting you know who sells their beers.

    Hope that is some help...
    Good Luck!

I didn't know Georgia had multiple countries within it. Learn something new everyday.

For Sweden, Carnegie Porter is distributed here in GA. Awesome beer too.

Northern Ireland is not a country, and is part of the UK, so you can take that off your list.

Can you get Super Bock in GA? It's not good by any means, but it's brewed in Portugal.
