    Hello,

I'm going to be in the Pottstown, PA area visiting relatives this weekend (9th & 10th). I'd like to try Big Gruesome. A relative says it is quite good. He gave me a lead on a place that sometimes has it, Union Jack's on the Manatawny in Oley. They don't have it listed on their website and I'm going to ask if they have it.

In case they don't, does anyone out there know about a bar with Big Gruesome anywhere from the Pottstown area down towards Philly?

It's only about an hour ride from Pottstown to Springhouse Taphouse in Lancaster.
If your relatives are like mine, a little break will be just what the doctor ordered.

We had thought about going to Spring House's Taphouse. I know it's only an hour or so from Pottstown (I grew up north of Pottstown) and I haven't been to their Taphouse yet, but given where I'm staying and where the relatives I'm heading out with live, we'd like to go someplace between Pottstown and Philly. If we have to had to Lancaster to get it, then we will. Thanks!

If you do decide to go to the Taphouse, just be sure to double check their tap list. http://www.springhousebeer.com/pages/menu

Big Gruesome was on tap last week but I believe they ran out. I'm not sure about bottles.

    drebrew, thanks!

davide169, I sent them e-mail asking. If I don't hear back, once I'm in PA I'll give them a call. Thanks!

If you can't find it by tonight, let me know. I drive past Pottstown on the way home from work and depending if my local bottle shop has it could pick some up for you.

This is where I'd have gotten it. Deg, sorry - I won't be in the Pottstown area tomorrow or Sunday.

If you're considering taking the ride to Lancaster you could also check with The Fridge or Hunger N Thirst for bottles.

SpringHouse just posted on FB that "The Fridge" in Lancaster has some bottles in stock.

Brewer's bar and grill in reading had six bottles left when I was just there, probably closer than lancaster for you. I have gotten it from the fridge in lancaster too, not sure how long it lasts there. If these places sell out or you can't drive the whole way out to get one, BM me. I usually go over towards pottstown Friday and Saturday nights.

I'm back in New Hampshire. I stopped by Mari's in Reading. I couldn't find Big Gruesome. I asked one of the employees about it. He said they don't carry Spring House any more.

I found a few Spring House bottles. It was their coffee beer - Planet Bean. I bought one.

While I was picking out bottles of other stuff to buy, the guy I initially asked about Big Gruesome came up to me. He told me he had a chocolate peanut butter stout on tap and he'd fill a growler for me. Unfortunately, he didn't yet have a price for the beer so he couldn't fill a growler right then. I asked when he would get a price, and he said he didn't know, maybe later that night or tomorrow. Neither time would work for me, so I lost interest (I didn't even ask what brewer made the beer), and thanked him.

I stopped in at Wegman's near 29 and 422 in Collegeville and they didn't have Big Gruesome (not surprised). I ate lunch at the Craft Ale House on Friday, but due to time constraints with visiting relatives and working, I didn't stay long enough to browse their bottle selection. I was at Teresa's in Wayne but they didn't have it (also not surprised).

Oh well. Thank you all for the suggestions and offers. Hopefully next time I have more luck.

Shoot me a BM if you want me to mail you one. That's way too much effort to put into it and not score one. I just bought a case at shangy's the other day so send me a shipping label and one of them is yours.

    Fleetwood, thank you!

Shangy's, ugh, I forgot about them. Their selection is great.

Thanks to FleetwoodMatt, I have a bottle. I'm enjoying it now.

I like it. The peanut butter taste is faint, and it has a chocolate cherry quality which I didn't expect but like.

    Very nice.

    Thank you FleetwoodMatt!

I just read this thread and I'm in the same boat as many of you. I live in Greensburg, PA (30 minutes southeast of Pittsburgh) in Westmoreland County. I was able to try Big G on tap this past weekend over Thanksgiving at a bar in New Kensington, PA but thats another 40 minutes outside of Greensburg. I liked it so much that I'd like to find a case of it somehow. I've got a friend from Philly coming in over Christmas and I'm gonna have him try to find me a case. My question is for FleetwoodMatt, Do you mind letting me know what $ you paid for the case and how many were in the case? (22's or 12oz?).. Any info would help. I love this beer.
