A French recipe, I’m looking for another brand now that East Hampton’s “Fat Orange Cat” is no more. This former Connecticut brewery had a nice array of farm ales and Belgians.

    Thankee!

Are the French bière de garde like 3 Monts or la Goudale available in Connecticut or the North East?

Did Fat Orange Cat brew a blond beer that they called a Biere de Garde? (Such a thing wouldn't be common in US craft beer.) If so, what was the beer name? It would be easier for people to help if you can provide more details.

It sounds great. Good idea for a summertime homebrew recipe. Thanx.

I started homebrewing back in the 90’s since I enjoyed the English cask Bitter Ales I drank during frequent business trips to England but these specific sorts of beers were not available in the US. I could purchase imported bottled Bass Ale but that beer tasted drastically different from the Bass I drank in England via cask (hand pump). My first beer was a Munton’s kit beer branded as Traditional Bitter Ale and it turned out very well.

@TheDailyBuzzherd, maybe homebrewing a batch of Blonde Biere de Garde is your solution here?

    Cheers!

Okay, I think they are but most likely Americans will only find older (sometimes several years old) bottles of either. Not worth it. Probably not too cheap either for some dusty bottles.

Maybe Space Cowboy from Oxbow Brewing in Maine? Untapp'd is showing it as available in places like Albany and Philadelphia, so apparently it gets around.

I live in the Philly area and my local Retail Beer Distributor does stock some Oxbow beers but I personally rarely buy them since more often than not they are not fresh.

I did read some reviews of Space Cowboy and it seems this beer is amber/copper in color.

    Cheers!

    Thanks, all!

Correction: FOC isn’t really dead but it’s closed to onsite sales.
