Going down for a few days with the fam. Looking for family friendly (two boys 6 and 8) places with great beer and great food. Appreciate any suggestions. Also bottle shops.
Plan to hit up Westbrook. Also hoping to land NoDa hop drop and roll if anyone has a line on where to get that.

    Thanks

Noda doesn't distribute to Charleston at all and doesn't ship the cans anywhere in SC, but if you're driving and going through Charlotte it'd be relatively easy to get with a quick detour. To me Charleston Beer Exchange is easily the best bottle shop in CHS, with House of Brews in Mt Pleasant being another solid option.

I don't have kids so I'll defer to someone else to answer that part of your question.

I have 3 boys, so there are a couple of places near me that have I like to patronize. The first is Smoky Oak Taproom, with great bbq (reasonable prices) and 40+ beers on tap, plus bottles. Very kid friendly during lunch and dinner. The other is Bohemian Bull, a beer garden with around 30 beers on tap, plus bottles. BB is also kid friendly during lunch and dinner, plus it has an outdoor area for the kids to run around. Both places are on James Island, which is on the way to Folly Beach. Hope you enjoy your trip down here!

I have a 3 yr old, we like to go out from time to time. Along with Smoky Oak and Bohemian Bull, Coleman Public House, and Edmunds Oast. I say Edmunds Oast, due to the outside seating, unparalleled beer selection, and great food. Prices are a bit high there, but you're paying for quality and location. It might be a better spot, just to hit up for happy hour and try a beer, rather than a meal. Holy City Brewing always has a great foodtruck and lots on tap, especially barrel aged beers. Friday is their first can release, which is in collaboration with the Holy City Beard and Moustache Society. It promises to be a lot of fun.

If you are driving you should absolutely swing through Charlotte! NoDa Brewing and Salud Bottle shop are family friendly and some of the best the city has to offer. If you are flying into Charleston, then disregard the last sentence. Charleston Beer Exchange is amazing and if you are looking for some limited stuff, Edmunds Oast is an amazing restaurant with a great selection of bottles.

Would Edmunds Oast or Closed for Business be OK for a family with a 5 year old and 6 month old? How about Coleman in Mt Pleasant? If not, is there any other places in downtown Charleston or Mt Pleasant? Definitely planning on visiting CBX and Westbrook.

I would say coleman is probably the most friendly, but school is winding down so the difference between the 5-6pm and 8-9pm crowds at cfb might not be as severe. While i've seen some teen croakies-in-training with their family at the oast, i'd say nyquil/chloroform/grandparent the kids and enjoy it childless.

"Official" policy at C4B is that it's 21+ only, but I've never really tested that, or seen it tested.

Hop Drop is in grocery stores in Charlotte but if cruising through (suspect you are doing 81 to 77 to 26) --go to the to the NoDa section for a quirky hippy like lunch. The brewery doesn't have food but the NoDa district has a bunch of little spots--Cabo Fish Taco and Revolution Ale House--all in the old industrial district (North Davidson) but a 15 min detour off 77.

No one knows beer in Charlotte better than Mike Brawley at Brawley's on Park Road.

Charleston has really stepped it up in the last 2 years. Another shout out to Chas beer exchange. It is a tiny hole in the wall downtown but near the market (about 3 blocks away) and they can tell you what place is serving what and where your kids would enjoy.

Thanks for the help everyone. Just one more, does CBX/Westbrook fill any growler or just theirs?

CBX exchanged my growler so if you have one you don't want to lose, don't take it there.

Greens in Columbia/ Irmo has 24 taps and is a lot more reasonable on price if your going thru there.

What are the best restaurants in town regardless of beer that I can bring my kids to? They are typically very well behaved kids, just no places that are super quite dining.
