I would consider eliminating the crystal malt, or at least reducing it. 17 lbs of basemalt should leave residual sweetness. I think one of the challenges of this style is balancing the hop bitterness with malt sweetness. The other is keeping the sweetness from interfering with your perceptions of the non-bitter characteristics of your hops.

    2-row and maybe 5% carapils or C-10.

60 min boil. CTZ for bittering at FW or @60.

Amarillo & Nelson at additions of 20 mins or less in the boil or Whirlpool.

Get your IBUs at the beginning and your flavor/aroma at the end. No need to waste those potent hops boiled away. Give it a decent dry hop. Good ol’ US-05 if ya wanna not mess with a starter.

Brewed it last night. Made some changes. My hop tube for dry hopping only fit 3 OZ. put a little summit, cascade, centennial in the dry hop for aroma. My grains were crushed together so I cant separate.
This was my first true 3 vessel all grain brew. Added .5 at 45 for bittering and 4 OZ at whirlpool.
I think my kiddo ran off with my airlock stopper so I had to improvise.
Recipe also turned out to be over 6 gallons. Starting from 8 gallon boil and 90 minutes. Wasnt expecting that. Bubbling out of my airlock this morning because of the crazy yeast pitch and not enough room. Had to make a bubbler tube. It smells really good.
