My girlfriend will be in Atlanta for a few days so of course I instantly want her to bring me back beer. But, the question is: What Georgia/Atlanta brews do you recommend that aren't super hard to come by and that I can't get in NC? I mainly drink big stouts and ipa's. Thanks in advance!

I just got back from ATL and there isn't much they have that we don't. Check seek-a-brew for specifics, but I came back with Westbrook, Jai Alai, Sixpoint and Jekyll. Sixpoint Hi-Res should be hitting soon, otherwise Resin is always solid. Westbrook IPA is solid. If you are lucky you may find some Orange Bliss or Gozu. HopCity in ATL tweeted earlier a new Czech-style pilsner from Westbrook, if that's your thing.

Monday Night Brewing recently bottled a bourbon barrel aged scotch ale called Drafty Kilt. I saw a few bottles of that left.

To the above I would add Wild Heaven and 3 Taverns (Theophan the Recluse may still be around). I also like Jailhouse Blackout Stout. Another option is to send an empty growler with her (they just have to have a govenment warning label on them). Several locals are draft only. Hop City currently has Wild Heaven Eschaton, and Ale Yeah has Wrecking Bar Breakfast Stout, for example.

Forgot about Jailhouse Blackout Stout. I heard it's similar to Founders Breakfast Stout. Good recommendation.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll definitely be interested in Westbrook stuff. Any chance someone has a regular Mexi Cake they don't want?

Any good, dark CCB offerings around?

I think the only CCB in ATL is Jai Alai.

Did you see any white oak Jai Alai? I really like oak ipa's.

We are one of the few states that get Port and Lost Abbey stuff on this side of the country. Their IPAs are fantastic, but we tend to get large shipments and they can linger on the shelves. I would have her look at their IPAs but be sure to check the dates. I have no idea if any of their stouts like Older Viscosity would still be around downtown or not.

When he said Jai Alai, he meant just regular Jai Alai. That is it. No Oak or Cedar version here unfortunately.

According to the CCB website there is regular Jai Alai and white oak Jai Alai.

I think I saw the smoked lager collaboration with Max Lager's around somewhere recently.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. I have never heard of anyone finding that in Atlanta.

We did have Jai Alai and Maduro when they first cme to GA a long time ago. We also got a shipment of the Dos Costas line then as well.

When they came back, all I have heard of or seen was regular Jai Alai. The collaboration beer was the other one they had a hand in available here.

If we got White Oak, I'd buy it all.

Plenty of Jai Alai around, Jekyll's full lineup is now on shelfs, as is Monday Night (BBA Kilt is around but rare). Wild Heaven are good choices in bottles too. Jailhouse Breakout by far is the best local stout, Theophan the Recluse a close second and still on shelfs. Three Taverns also has White Hops, Single Intent, and Night in Brussels in 4pks. O'Dempsey's Your Black Heart is another great local stout in 4pks too. Plenty of good stuff to choose from.

Had a taste of the Black Ash at an event on the weekend. I thought it was really good. Thanks to JR for bringing it.
