I have recently had a bunch of New Glarus fruit beers (Rasp Tart, Strawberry Rhubarb, Belgian Red, etc) and have been blown away. Honestly some of the best beers I've ever had.

I had never been a huge fruit beer fan until now. I've always liked sours though. Now I'm obsessed with fruit beers. Really wish I could get New Glarus here in AZ all the time.

What other fruit beers can you recommend that can compare to NG or any other good fruit beers? I'm fairly new to fruit beers and want to try out more of the style.

    Cheers!

Mad Michael Flying V Sour Lagrrr! by SingleCut Beersmiths is a great fruity sour.

UFO Big Squeeze by Harpoon Brewery is part pale ale and part grapefruit shandy. Very refreshing.

Founders Rubaeus is frequently compared to NG Raspberry Tart, but it deserves to be considered on its own merits. Fine beer. Consume fresh.

    Founders Rubaeus is pretty solid.

Dark Horse Tres Blueberry Stout is very tasty as well.

I've heard good things about the Founders. They are now in AZ so hopefully I can get some.

    Thanks for the recommendations!

have your tried any of the lambic's made in Belgium? Linderman are the cheap ones, but better than the really cheap ones(Boon).
and of course Cantillon, and Drie Fonteinen. (neither cheap) but world class.
with oude beersel not to bad.

I'm not a fan of lindermans fruit beers. All sweetness with no malt backbone. That's what I love about the New Glarus beers. Just so balanced. I kind of like Kasteel Rouge but wouldn't rush out to get it.

I really need to try Cantillons Kriek. Really hard to find a bottle

New Glarus does indeed make some tasty fruit beers. I have only had the pleasure of drinking sample size pours at GABF but I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I am not typically a big drinker of fruited beers but some of my personal favorites are:

    · Dogfish Head Aprihop

    · Dogfish Head Festina Peche

    · Bell's Cherry Stout

Technically pumpkin is a fruit (I know that most folks don’t view it that way): One of my favorite Pumpkin Ales is Dogfish Head Punkin Ale.

Cheers to Dogfish Head for making some tasty fruit beers!

For me, after drinking NG fruit beers, nothing from US craft breweries has come close

You are fortunate that you live close to Wisconsin and can buy New Glarus beers.

    Cheers!

I need to expand a little more but I'm guessing I'll come to that conclusion. They are a treat

I'm guessing being in AZ you may have gotten to try some of the JK 500ml beers? I don't find them very sour, somewhere in between a sour and something like a NG fruit beer. Atrial Rubicite, Nocturn, etc.

Also the De Garde fruited Imperial Bu Weisses that I've tried haven't been very sour, more fruity.

But none of these are exactly easy to trade for.

Unfortunately we don't get Jester King here. A blend of a sour and fruit beer sounds really nice to me. I'll have to check them out

Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus. Relatively easy to find (for Cantillon), and far better than any American-made fruited sour I've had. Your best bet is to order the from Belgium. Totally worth it. Some American fruit sours are pretty good, too. Russian River makes some excellent ones.

The only other fruit beers I've had that I felt were worthwhile are some of the saisons and pale ales at Tired Hands that incorporate fruit puree into the recipe, but that's not much help to you.

From what I've heard, NG fruit beers are kind of in a class of their own. Since I'm in Wisconsin a lot, I've never really branched out from them (so take my opinion with a few handfuls of salt). Goose Island's sisters are great too, but they're much more sour, and the fruit doesn't come through quite as easily (I find that pairing them with cheese/crackers tends to help). There are a lot of people on here that seem to have easy access to NG, so if you're not able to find anything else you really like, I'd recommend trading a BA (or 6).

I understand totally I am not a big fan either, but the wife likes them, and 1 never knows. I do not think we get New Glarus here, so I never had 1. Not that it matters, not a big fan of most fruit lambics.

I didn't like fruit beers at all until I tried New Glarus. Strawberry Rhubarb was the first I had by them.

A friend brought it over and I was so skeptical. Easily one of the best beers I've had. I would put it up there with the very best.
