Hello Moutain region BAers/ I will be in and Around Victor ID, Jackson WY, Jackson Hole WY and West Yellowstone this week and next. I am looking for any current craft beer advice. I have googled and searched BA a bit, and I already have Grand Teton Brewing and Snake River Brewing on my radar. Any chance of finding a bottle shop? I am hoping to find some cans to bring home. Thanks in advance. Cheers Mike
Make sure to hit up Melvin/Thai Me Up while in Jackson to try their 2x4 if you are an IPA drinker. I've heard that is widely considered the Pliny/Heady Topper of the region. They aren't bottling yet as far as I know so it will be draft only if they have it on tap. Snake River has a lot of taproom only beers as well so good choice there. EDIT: Finding cans of Snake River shouldn't be too hard. I'll get back to you on what shop(s) to hit up.
Was there (Jackson) a couple of weeks ago. Agreed with what is said above. Went to "The Liquor Store" which had all of the regional beers plus they have around 8 or 12 lines for growler fills. It was about 1 1/2 miles from Snake River.
I had read the reviews on that one. I will try to track it down to see if I can consider it the DRIPA of the region! It's is a family trip, and I just found out this afternoon that my wife's mostly non drinking family rented a house a half mile from the Grand Teton Brewing Company. This trip may turn out a little better than I had anticipated.
There is also a small brewery in Victor Idaho called "Wildlife Brewing" fairly decent beer as well. Grand Teton in Victor is good as well. Snake River brewing in Jackson is a must! We live in Ammon Idaho and drive the 100 miles just to go there for lunch and a beer run. Outstanding beer and their food is crazy good(the wagyu beef tacos and the pappardelle pastas are hard to believe good!) , great atmosphere and you can buy freshly canned beer there as well, Pako's IPA is wonderful. They do get crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. Thai Me Up does have killer beer! As stated they don't even can, you gotta go there to try it and their DIPA's are massive beers for sure, great Thai food as well! As far as bottle shops go in Jackson hit Bin 22 on Broadway, The Liquor Store as mentioned those are the two best ones, Smiths grocery store liquor and wine shop sometimes had a decent selection. West Yellowstone has a few small bars, make sure to hit the Buffalo Bar, best place in town. Even had a nitro tap last time I was there, great food and some casino machines, I believe it's only 21 and over. The two small grocery stores in West Yellowstone actually have a good beer selection as well. If you make it to Idaho Falls there are two bottle shops downtown, Vino Rosso and Marcellar's they are within a block of each other and have good selections. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy my neck of the woods!
Thanks for the tips. I was in for a Family wedding, not a beercation. I still had a great tour of Grand Teton Brewing, had a nice dinner at Wildlife, drank a crap ton of Pakos IPA and found bottles of Deschuttes The Abyss sitting on the shelf at Bin22 in Jackson It is beautiful country, I would love to visit again without all the family obligations
