I had many tasty draft pints of Jai Alai last year while visiting friends who live in the Tampa area last year. I also had a few cans of Jai Alai at restaurants there but they were not as good (age issue I presume).

    Cheers!

P.S. This thread 'reminded' me to check out Fatheads Head Hunter IPA earlier today while grocery shopping at my local Wegmans supermarket. I picked up a six-pack which was canned 6/28/21 (only two weeks old - Woo-Hoo!).

Agree with other posts that Founders Centennial IPA might be your best best. Other macro IPAs that drinks with somewhat similar flavors would be Cigar City Jai Alai, Hop Valley Bubble Stash, Ballast Point Sculpin (although a bit pricey), Alpine Nelson IPA, and Melvin IPA to name a few.

I’m not sure if they distribute to South Carolina but Deschutes Fresh Squeezed is my favorite.

Another I buy a lot that fits your bill is a local, Cape May IPA from Cape May Brewing, but unfortunately I think the farthest south they are is Delaware.

And, if your local area runs out of IPA's, you could always take a trip to Arizona...

Another one hiding in plain sight, Sweetwater IPA. Very similar to Jai Alai (to my tastes), but more consistent. Picked up a fresh 12-pack of cans this week and was reminded how dependable and stellar it is.

I would love to send you my address, but I do not know how to BM, believe it or not. If you can tell me, I would be happy to because not only would I be able to sample these wonderful beers, that seem quite popular in your part of the country. I would also be remiss, if I did not offer you some fine beers from my area, that you may or may not have been able to have access too.
    Thanks, you are awesome.

The O.P. is a Trader so I recommend Be Hoppy from Wormtown Brewery of scenic Worcester Mass. Yes, from the heart of NEIPA land comes a reasonably priced and well liked AIPA.

I am looking for a Virginia DIPA that is very hoppy along the lines of Evo #6 or Dogfish 90 for my husband If it is Southern Virginia even better but anything from the state. We try to drink localish beer on vacation.

I think it's a winter seasonal but if it's not, Alewerks Bitter Valentine would be a good choice. Having a hard time thinking of VA breweries that do more traditional IPAs, Hardywood Great Return is an IPA at 7.5% so it might work for you.

Isn't the subject of this post exactly what the BA rating system is supposed to help answer? You can go to the ratings and easily sort by style and there are multiple IPA styles to choose from.

It’s not sold in SC but if you trade it should be EZ for you to get Kane Head High from NJ. As good as an national brand.

Jai Alai was one of my favorites too. It was a special treat when I went to Florida once a year or so. They started distribution in Michigan a few years ago and is hard to find fresh. Seems hard to find fresh in Florida too. It does fall off fast.

Well, I 'lucked out' each time I ordered it on draft.
Unfortunately this is indeed the case. This past weekend at a local beer retailer I saw a six-pack which was canned two months ago and I just put it back on the shelf, not a worthwhile purchase IMO.

    Cheers!
