I will be heading to NC from MI next month. I am looking for some ideas of where to go.

I will be with my family do time is limited. I'm already planning on going to Wicked Weed on my way home. I am mainly looking for sours, saisons, other Belgian styles and IPAs but at the same time its hard to beat a good german style lager.

NC's a big state. Where you going? And almost regardless of what the answer is, I'm guessing there's a fairly recent thread that addresses that area.

Seems to me if you already plan on going to WW, you got it covered. There's lots of great beers like Event Horizon, Lindley Park, Burial beers around. If your in Asheville they're there at a good bottle shop I'm sure.

If you're looking for German style, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who does it as good as Olde Meck. If you can't make it down to Charlotte, you 'should' be able to find their bottles in store around Asheville.

I don't believe they sell anywhere outside of Charlotte, at least not that I've ever seen.

They used to have wider distribution, but have been pulling back closer to Charlotte since they're up against the NC barrel limit.

I just did a quick search on their website, and it says Thirsty Monk in Asheville receives their distro, but looks like that's the only place.

I haven't checked at the Thirsty Monk lately, but OMB has definitely pulled back to mostly Charlotte. They used to be in my market (Hickory), but have pulled out because they can't supply the market. Pretty sure they've said they want to maintain self-distribution as they want to keep their beer refrigerated at all times and can't guarantee that with a distributor.

If you see OMB bottles outside of Charlotte, check the dates before you buy.

Outer Banks Brew Station put Maibock into a can that was tasty.
