I'm trying to trade to get beers from outside my distribution. However, without actually posting names of beers, you aren't allowed to just post looking for beer in general. So, I'm looking for people to give me suggestions of some beers that would be shelf in this area (preferably stouts), but wouldn't distribute to where I am (western New York).

I'm looking for a bunch of suggestions so I can get together a list of stuff to look for. Always looking to try new stuff, and seeking out the rarest beers isn't for me.

Ummmm.... how would we know that (which beers from here that you don't have access to)? I mean I could make an educated guess, but that's all it would be.

Just a suggestion, but why not take a look at the online list from places like Belmont Stations, John's Market place or the bier stein? That should give you some idea what's generally available out here... which you can match up with the selection out where you live.

Full Throttle pretty much lists all the beers available here in Seattle.

Fremont's standard Dark Star is a great shelf beer. Cans and bombers.

Try this site - SeekABrew: http://www.seekabrew.com/distro/index.html

Pick a state, see what's there, compare it to your state. It's not 100% accurate, but a solid start.

You can post an ISO for "Locals" and non-NY distro beers; that's acceptable isn't it? You could just say something like "looking for xyz styles, about xyz dollars, looking to go $4$ with my locals" and then give some suggestions of stuff you'd trade.

    Here are a few ideas:
    - Fremont Dark Star
    - Fremont Bourbon Barrel Dark Star (not "shelf", but still lingering)
    - Black Raven Grandfather Raven
    - Crux Tough Love (not "shelf", but still around)
    - Ecliptic Oort (heard good things about this)
    - Breakside Salted Caramel Stout
    - Reuben's Imperial Oatmeal Stout (rotating)
    - Sound Brewing Ursus Spelaeus / Ursus Americanus
    - Silver City Imperial Stout
    - Old Schoolhouse Brewer's Reserve Imperial Stout
    - Black Market Black Hole Sun
    - Nectar Black Xantus
    - Caldera Mogli (ok, so it's a chocolate porter - sue me)
    - Deschutes Obsidian (may not be exotic enough, but don't think they distro to NY)
    - Pelican Tsunami Stout
    - Pike Entire (this year's batch is great!) & XXXXX
    - Fort George Cavatica / North VIII
    - Ninkasi Oatis / Vanilla Oatis
    - Oakshire Overcast Espresso
    - Laurelwood Organic Espresso Stout
    - Hopworks Survival
    - Elysian Split Shot / Dragonstooth (InBev haters avoid)

Also Port / Lost Abbey distro here and I don't think they send to NY ... so Serpent's Stout is a good one.
