Actually, Derek Prentice brewed it. A real brewing superstar.

Just wanted to update the thread!
Thomas Hardy's Ale 2015 was released this year and is available in few European countries (I know Sweden and Italy). At this time it's not available in the States but Interbrau is working on that and plans to have it distributed in the States in 2017.

Also slated for 2017 release is a Thomas Hardy's Historic Ale. This is Thomas Hardy's Ale that was conditioned in Cognac barrels.

Thanks for the update. I've been wondering on the status of this.
What makes the "historic ale" historic? It sounds like a contemporary spin. @patto1ro

Don't think it was ever aged in barrels. It's a bit too recent a beer for that. An interesting development. Though, personally, I'd have gone for neutral wood and Brettanomyces.

Perhaps being revived numerous times makes an ale "historic". A friend of mine
told me he met an English fellow who had tried the newer offering and did not
care for it.....as for me I would make my own decision.

    An updated website

    Cheers mates!

Had a 2001 recently and found it to be pretty tasty. Straight raisins, but I like raisins so it worked out well.

JW Lee's is good, but the barrel stuff is different from the traditional malt character of the Hardy's.

I think the recent batch of Desceutes Jubelale is nice and malty, very english like in character, not quite Hardy's but some of the character is there.

The problem these days is you will find less and less malt forward beer and more boozy barrel garbage passed off as good.
