was in the Mansfield area tonite so I stopped into Wines & More at the big plaza off the highway. Havnt been in there in a few months. Ended up taking a chance on some Heavy Seas Loose Cannon IPA, out of Maryland I think, never had it before and hadnt heard any review good or bad...but it looked to have been brewed very recently. was on sale for 10 buck a six and had an enjoy by date of March 2015. Well, I am glad I did, this is a solid IPA, on my third already

A few disappointing sightings in there:

they had two types of Grey Sail, but no DIPA
first time I've seen 12 pack cans of torpedo, but brewed in august, no thanks
first time I've seen 12 pack cans of perpetual, enjoy by 11/20/2014, no thanks
plenty of racer 5, brewed in august
lots of bombers of Sucks, brewed on 204 day of this year
    I could go on...

So glad I tried the loose cannon

In my experience that's kinda how it goes for IPAs at Wines & More most of the time. Given how much they must buy they could sell a lot of a given beer and still end up with several cases worth of leftovers that end up sitting around later on. I'm there once or twice a month on average depending on the tasting schedule or if I'm making a trip to another store in the plaza. Did you ask anybody there about the Grey Sail DIPA? I don't know how much of that has been sent out in cans but it's possible a first allocation could have come & gone already.

Loose Cannon is a top notch IPA. I always purchase when I see it fresh.

Congrats on the upleasnt experience called Wines and More. If their prices don't stun you, their collection of finely aged IPAs will. On my mosy recent and probably last visit I noticed a pattern. When mixing a 6 there, If you want fresher beer pull from the fridge or 6 packs on shelves. The individual beers they display for "mix 6" are extremely old.

Yeah, Heavy Seas is quite under-appreciated, especially Loose Cannon.

A bit off topic, but what happened to Loose Cannon in cans? I bought it once and never saw it again..
