It's amazing that a beer can travel 2000 miles and be cheaper than it is 5 miles from the brewery.

I recently hit my local (The Nashua Garden) and they had Boomsauce on draft.... during Happy Hour drafts are 1/2 price, so I sez "wtf?"... Had a 12oz pour for $3.50.... not bad... Would not pay $7 for 12oz on a regular basis, though... Worth the hype? Not really, imo... Getting away from the taste/cost factor, I gots to say this is one of the dumbest bier names I have heard.... But what do I know, eh? :astonished:

    Prosit!!!

You all know that Lord Hobo doesn't set retail prices, right? If it was cheaper 2000 miles away that has nothing to do with them, just like the post above about happy hour pricing.

Had draft Steal This Can last noght. Not usually a fan of LH but this batch is really solid.

They set prices at the bar in Cambridge. $8/pint.

Well, their pricing around the Boston area is ~ $1 higher than comparative pints, while afar LH is cheaper. I know, it's not some vast conspiracy, but you can connect the dots pretty easily.

It's consistently the highest-price draft at places in Burlington (1 town away, 3 miles from the brewery). And the stale packaged offerings aren't exactly a bargain either.

I really enjoy Boom Sauce. Given what I've seen here I'm always surprised. It is expensive but I don't have to spend a day driving halfway across the state... buy it fresh right down the street. It's a regular in the fridge rotation.

Consolation prize is really nice. I didn't like paying 9$ for a 10oz pour at City Tap but it is their best beer

Stopped in there after work a few weeks ago. The amount of 20-something bros drinking Boom Sauce was nuts, especially at that price. I don't think many realized how much it was at first, but the marketing of a douchey named beer seems to be attracting an equivalent audience.

I think it may just be more a function of how popular breweries are right now (speaking to how packed a place is, this isn't a slight on Lord Hobo's beers, I haven't had them in awhile, so I can't speak to them). I went to three different breweries on Saturday (Nightshift, Bone Up, and Lamplighter) and all three had lines. I got into a packed Lamplighter without a line, but one developed shortly after I got in.

Yeah, I've experienced the same, or at least witnessed the line form after I arrived. I get the fun of a taproom, Night Shift on a warm afternoon/evening is about as much fun as bars get around here. But this was the first time I've seen entire groups of guys order Boom Sauce by the round. Like, "we'll take 5 Boom Sauces and a cider" happened multiple times from different groups, all 30 or under. At a place with a taplist that large and varied, it was odd to see people repeatedly drink one of the most expensive and highest ABV beers on the list, especially when there is old stock sitting on shelves in every liquor store in the area.

I think I'll be a one and done there. Too much money for what you get. The burger was good, but a good burger isn't hard to find. I found the beer to be overly priced and nothing that I was overly excited to try . Place was jammed though so I don't think they'll miss my business.

What did you think of Bone Up? I went Saturday as well. It was almost empty when I got there. I thought the beers were more miss than hit for me. I like the cream ale saison hybrid, very unique. I thought the porter was the best beer they had on. The hoppy ales were okay but nothing I would think about again. The wit and the imperial stout were middling at best for my tastes.

The place did fill up while I was there. The halo effect from NS will help them out quite a bit.

I thought the same on Bone Up. Didn't feel the need to order more than one beer after doing some tasters. And almost everyone there came from Night Shift because the line got so long.

Tangentially, even though it is indicated on their menu, any place serving beer in 14oz shakers can fuck right off.

Has anyone had their "Glorious - Galaxy Pale Ale"? Looks like it's in stock at my local store and wondering if it's worth picking up.

A buddy of mine who's fridge is currently stocked with Treehouse, Swish...etc. said he likes it. I'll probably give it a whirl.

I took a chance on this last night and was pleasantly surprised. Really great galaxy flavor with a good amount of haze. At $12.50/4 I'll def buy again, so long as it is fresh.
