I place tsukemen in my cold noodles category even though, technically, the broth is served lukewarm/warm. The reason why I do that is because I'm not going to eat a hot bowl of soup noodles on a 100 degree day, but if I'm in the mood for noodles, I'll eat something like tsukemen, zaru soba/udon, naengmyeon, or bun.

can we have every regional forum digress into ramen discussion? no but nice to see so many ramen heads here.

my tastes have definitely changed, like with beer, but I still enjoy the classics. I used to be obsessed with Santouka when I worked in the West Side. This is pre- Tsujita. Haven't been there in so long now. Need to revisit

It's weird that a Los Angeles thread has become a Noodle thread.

you should eat a hot bowl of soup on a hot day. The hot soup causes you to to have a thin film of sweat that cools you down!

If you're planning on being in NELA skip Golden Road and visit the Hermosillo for some Highland Park Brewery beers. By the time you're here I hope they'll have bottled and label approved their Lazy Susan peach and nectarine berliner which is amazing, and their current batch of Hello LA IPA is close to on par with the better Beachwood offerings.

    Definitely hit Glendale Tap, too.

And if you make it to the south bay breweries hit up El Segundo Brewery, El Segundo's downtown is another quaint spot that feels like another time and place.

I still put Santouka at the top of my personal favorite list. Thanks to grilledsquid that exposed me to it many years ago. The new spot on Melrose by La Brea is quite good actually and Takara on sunset is decent that has a really nice grilled squid dish . I need these local options for those high traffic days.
