I'll be in LA in August (Pacific Palisades to be specific). I am sure there are plenty of threads that will help but I Can't find them.

Just looking for suggestions on breweries, bars, restaurants and beers to look for that I don't get in NC.

I will have a car and not opposed to making a trek somewhere.

In the immediate area, nothing. You are going to have to travel for anything good. The closest to you is Santa Monica Brew Works but your time would be better spent in the car heading somewhere else. The closest place worth your money is Firestone Walker Venice (which is technically in Marina Del Rey)
I can't recommend any bars in the PP. if you need something close I'd check Untappd when you get to where you are staying.
There are tons of great places in LA but none of them are in the area you are staying.

It's just that the Pacific forum is full of threads on LA/OC bars, restaurants and bottleshops, as well as tons of specific breweries. To say that you haven't found anything is definitely worth an eyeroll. Pacific Palisades basically = West side, especially Santa Monica. Here's the thing--getting across L.A. is a bitch, no matter how you look at it. You should probably focus on one area for a specific day. For example, on an Anaheim day, you might do Noble, Bottle Logic, and the Bruery. Spend a day in Long Beach and hit up Beachwood, Congregation, Beer Belly, even Ballast Point if you're into it. I promise you these itineraries and suggestions are found here in the Pacific forum if you spend more than five minutes looking.

Monkish, smog city, highland park brewery are the best in LA imo.
Longer drive Noble, Bruery and Bottle Logic in Orange County (an hour without traffic)

But yeah, there are tons of threads on this forum. But my above statement is my generic reply of best breweries.

Technically FWV actually is in Venice. I had the same beef with them when they announced but the map of Venice makes a little bubble that includes that corner on the other side of WA

OP, you hould check out Father's Office in SM. As for things to do in Pacific Palisades, not sure. Hang out with yoga MILFs?

I never understood these types of threads. Whenever I'm planning on going somewhere i haven't been i use google maps. Map the region, type in 'brewery", look at the results. I even do it for my region, new breweries pop up all the time I've never heard of.

Never, they need to learn an important lesson. What that lesson is, I have no idea.

Fathers office is the obvious choice for a close bar.

Pacific Palisades is very nice but a food/drink wasteland except for Sweet Rose Creamery ice cream (worth a stop!). Father's Office still has one of the best burgers in town but very crowded, go in off hours. Other Santa Monica bar alternative is the Daily Pint. Independence is a good Santa Monica gastropub with OK beer selection.

For beercation stuff the closest stops are Firestone in Venice and Three Weavers in Inglewood, otherwise you're looking at road trips to South Bay/Torrance, Downtown/Highland Park, Orange County, or Agoura Hills/Westlake Village

Happy to provide restaurant recommendations w/out regard to beer selection if you let me know what types of place you like, otherwise eater la list of essential restaurants is a good overview

FW Venice & Fathers Office are both good choices, but also check out Library Alehouse in Santa Monica. Good food & taplist.
