Lost Abbey Saints and Sinners 2018

Was Cable Car just for the 2018 membership or for 2019 as well?

 

So far just for the 2018 membership, but they haven't really released the expected bottles for 2019 quite yet. So 2019 CC may be members-only as well.

 

Got off the waiting list for the 2019 membership today; I think I'm going to be a pass though, since the i). higher price than most clubs, ii). complete lack of info about the bottles, and iii). BUY IN 48 HOURS OR LOSE YOUR CHANCE, are all combining to strike me the wrong way. Quite frankly, there is too much choice in SoCal beer clubs these days for me to go with one that seems to be less open in communication than many of the others...

 

2019 is going to include (pulled from emails and fb posts) CC 2019, Veritas Raspberry, a Sinners Blend, O Brien's 25th anniversary beer, a new blonde sour with red wine grapes. I'd also assume DDG 2019.

Sounds like a good lineup to me

 

If 2 Cable Cars are part of the membership along with 2 DDG’s, sounds good to me. Those are quality bottles.

Curious, didn’t you join the wait list last year because you wanted in? A year later you’re feeling pressured with 2 days to make a decision? Then you throw in the too expensive narrative?

Why did you even put yourself on the waitlist in the first place?

 

I put myself on the waitlist because I enjoy their beer in general, and I was interested in joining the program. And I'm not sure about the Cable Cars, as they were not mentioned in the e-mail at all: only the option to get two DDGs. Part of the reason I posted this was to see if I was missing some info, and I'm glad to have more from @PG2G (Thanks!).

But it's still a very quick turnaround time for an expensive membership where I really don't know what I'm getting. You can't see why that might make me less willing to take the plunge?

 

I actually got the email too but ultimately decided against it. Price tag is too high to do it solo and couldn't find anyone to split it with me. owell, ill continue to drink the shit outta LA at toro

 

I don’t think DDG will be a membership beer. They keep saying how members will have the chance to buy 2 bottles for each year being a member. Not once did they mention getting some as part of the 13 beers.

But everything else @PG2G listed as been communicated.

 

That is correct.
Members that renewed can buy 4 before public
New Members can buy 2 before public
Members for 2018 that did NOT renew can buy 2 before public.

They made it sound like they would trigger our specific accounts on their store website and then public sale would be on eventbrite. So along with our discount, we wouldn't have to deal with the fees eventbrite puts on.

 

I passed as well for this reason. Would have prob joined many years ago. Now there's just too much great stuff out there at a cheaper price tag. Plus, I'm good on sours between MT and my SP connect.

 

impressed at how many people sign up for a waitlist with no intention to purchase the thing. Must be kinda frustrating for lost abbey club admins

 

I gotta imagine they plan for that sort of thing. Invite a few more than you have room for knowing not everyone will join. I didn't renew yesterday and still see I have the option to do it so I'm curious what the demand actually is.

 

I cant blame anyone for passing because they dont know whats included. I would never commit without knowing included bottles.

I don't know why people keep saying this. We know a good portion of what's coming.

I think it's mostly because that info wasn't included in the off-the-waitlist e-mail. So we had to get it from other sources, like you guys! *shrug*
