LA does a short pick up window to take care of local supporters, and to keep them out of the hands of people who just want to sell a low production bottle.

Although I would appreciate a two week pick up window as well.

i agree that a 5 hour window on $41 beer isnt the best. I wont be in town and would usually buy these but since i 100% cant make such a small window, im out. im sure this will sell out instantly anyway.

Me too. And I never bought any. Therefore, I'll take the short pickup window as long as there are online purchases.

I think I'm gonna pass this year the variability has been really bad on the 16 not to mention I'm sick of trading a beer I paid 45 for and hoping to get something someone paid $20 for constantly. Tomme needs to realize his sours aren't world class anymore

How do his beers sell? If they consistently sell out, he has absolutely no reason to "realize" this. And even less reason to price his beers to match your trading budget.

And trading limited release Cali beers for Midwest shelf beers isn't Tommes fault. And is also a stereotype about Cali traders in general.

Multiple GABF medals indicates they are doing something right to me.

And I'm agreeing with you, in case that gets lost in translation.

Idk my brother got his 016 traded for a new glarus wild peach and I would do that over and over and over again. The factoring in the fact that it retailed for $10 and is 2/3 the quantity doesn't matter.

I don't think Ad Idem sold out, and I wouldn't doubt if V17 took longer than usual (a full day or longer) given the adjunct and the price.

No worries, I thought we were in some kind of agreement.

FWIW, I stopped buying Lost Abbey bottles years ago because of quality control issues and prices which made them a gamble I decided I couldn't afford. I don't know how reliable their bottles are these days, and I guess I'm not likely to find out. These days they're priced even further above my comfort zone, and there are plenty of cheaper and still excellent options when I want their kind of beers.

Most people I know didn't trust Ad Idem because it was a collab with Wicked Weed. I'd be surprised if V017 didn't move as quickly as every other Veritas

I should add that I've purchased V13-V16, and held off/will be holding off on Ad Idem and V017 due to pricing (my biggest issue), and the fact it is generally difficult for me to make it to pickup given the narrow window.

That's alot of hoops to jump through for a historically so-so beer. I really hate how breweries think they can get away with all this crap just because the craft beer scene is booming and limited release beers are sought after.

Also, I hope they give you a refund if you fail to pick up your beer, if not, that's just robbery.

They don't. The published terms of sale when you go in to purchase bottles are if you fail to pickup your bottles during the pickup period, they are forfeited back to the brewery. Does it suck? Yes. I still can't believe this is the way it works, but that's been the way with many releases for a few years now across multiple breweries

I mean, you could always just throw a 2yr old temper-tantrum online screaming that you forgot about the window because you were too busy getting high, then post it on reddit in order to get a refund. I mean it worked once, but this is a new year, maybe it would work again.

OR, you could read the terms of sale and plan ahead to make sure you can abide by the rules put forth by the brewery. Can't make it, don't buy. Seems simple.
