so I agreed to my first large trade and being the newly, I was to ship first. No problem. I shipped a few beers here and there, but this was my first big trade. I shipped out a ba abraxas along with regular abraxas and sump with some other locals. I drop my package off at fedex. Ultimately it gets lost (here in town according to the scans). FedEx is asking me what is in the package. I told them as I at least want to get it back. They haven't mentioned one thing about not being allowed to ship beer. Sounded like they were looking inside boxes without labels to find mine. After all ba abraxas isn't exactly a shelf turd so worst case I want it back to drink!!. It has now almost been two weeks and they can't find it. Do you think I can put a claim in? Will they pay a claim for alcohol? What do I claim as the "value". Selling price originally was $30 for ba abraxas if I remember properly, but the "value" is much higher. I've seen them sell for a couple hundred on other sites.

Any chance it is found and returned after such a long time missing?

This experience may prevent me from shipping trades going forward as this really sucks. I am out three excellent beers plus a handful of other good locals. I first thought fedex was great, now I kind of hate them.

Typical default value (without paying extra) is $100 for FedEx, assuming you listed that as the value you should be able to at least get $100+shipping cost back. Fill out a claim form online (or by hand), claim it's glassware (I highly doubt they'll cross check it against what you told them on the phone since it's likely getting handled by a very different department), and get back what you can for it. They don't expect receipts for gifts so don't worry about supporting documentation or actual value. Some people ship $500 worth of beer and claim $100 because that's all they can, some people ship a $20 worth of beer but can get $100 anyways.

Yeah, just fill out a claim form and see if you get the insurance on it. It will be $100 check and you either re-ship or politely explain the situation to your trader and cancel the trade. in future trades for bottles 'worth' more than $100, get more insurance, but it starts to raise flags. No shipping company is perfect, and you are bound to lose a box or two over the long run.

I have been in contact with the trader the whole time. I have given updates along the way. I am not a big time trader and ba abraxas was my whale and my really on rare/ highly wanted beer. I mainly trade locally for local stuff that is limited releases.

Not sure of any reasons, but it looks like my claim was denied. Anyone have any experience with denied claims? Is it possible to get it resolved?
