Just picked one of these up at a small PA bottle shop. This was the first time I've seen Cantillon in bottle form so I picked it up without question of the $30 price tag. Without sparking a flame war about worth or supply/demand, is $30 a reasonable price for this?

Also, are these aged for extended amounts of time before being distributed? The sticker says 2006, but I know this beer was not at the store a few months ago.

    Thanks

$25-$30 is pretty standard for the Lou Pepe's. They are aged before being distributed, but i think they are on the 2009 sticker now.

    Yes, $30 is totally reasonable.

Yup. I picked up a LP Framboise in Canada a few weeks ago for $25. It was an 09 sticker.

Thanks. This will be the perfect 800th beer. Since the 09 is what's out now, I wonder where this beer has been sitting for the last 3 years with demand as high as it is.

Since Lou Pepe is a blend of same-age lambic, the vintage on the bottle is indicative of the year that the lambic was brewed. An '09 sticker isn't the bottling year. Check the year on the cork. Pretty sure it says 2011.

    My '09 has a '12 cork, I think the LP's are 3 years back-dated.

I kind of figured someone would come in and say something like that. I checked an '08 I have in my cellar and it had a 2010 cork, so I assumed it was back-dated 2 years. I have an '09 somewhere in there that I can check as well. I don't have any earlier vintages so I don't know if this is consistent.

EDIT: Checked bottle. Cork is a 2012, but bottling date on label says 4 November 2011.

Traded some New Glarus for a '04 LP - Framboise a few months ago. The guy I traded with said he purchased it for $40. Not sure what I plan on doing with it.

Yeah, I guess its not an exact science. My '08 gueze is a 2011, so I was making an assumption based on 2 data points.

Yeah-I think it also depends on when they get around to bottling it.

Just opened this bad boy after Thanksgiving dinner #2. Cork is 2008. Delicious.

I believe I've paid $34.99 + tax for Lou Pepe Kriek 2009 in San Francisco Bay Area.

Hey...anybody know the difference between LP gueuze and the regular classic gueuze?

Lou Pepe Framboise is currently $25 in Vancouver, just bought a bottle, they have a bunch more as well. The 2009 blend has the 2011 cork. Anyone wanting to trade let me know.
