Low humidity, wrap the bottle?

Short backstory (because, why not...), I keep my beers in two different locations. Because I have quite a large amount of bottles, most of them end up in a garage that does well for the most part but does get perhaps a bit too warm in the summer, but nothing too horrible. The second location is fridge that stays at 49°F. Because the space in there isn't nearly big enough for all my bottles, I usually keep the ones I really don't want to fuck up, in there.

I have recently got my hands on some bottles of Belle-vue from 1989 and I really want to put those in my fridge and I remembered having read on this very site, that a fridge is so low humidity that the cork can dry out, and I figure these corks have probably seen better days.

In short, would it at all be beneficial to wrap the top of the bottle (or even the entire bottle) in some sort of plastic (and if so, which would work best?) to keep the beer in the best condition possible?

Refrigeration in general is at least partially about removing moisture, so you're definitely correct on that point. Completely packaging bottles in plastic bags is a great idea! If you could do a vacuum sealed bag that would be the best, but even a regular zip seal bag should do just as well. Great idea!

Haha, I've actually got a vacuum sealer I use for sous vide :grinning: I should try!
