Lower Mainland BA Meetup

    Well, I’ve been here a few years now. There were a few here long before me and since I’ve joined, more and more awesome Lower Mainland BAs have come on board. Met some great people online here but it would be really cool to meet you guys in person and share some great beers.

    Soooo, I’m hoping to host a bottle share at my house in Port Moody if there’s enough interest. Everyone is welcome and even if it’s only a few of us, I think it would be a really fun time. I’d like to limit it to around 8 or 10 people so we’re not getting 1oz pours ...this isn’t the other site ;-)

    Saturday, October 19. 3pm - ?

    My expectation is that each person brings approximately 2 large format bottles and a snack or desert to share. Bottles should be something you would be excited to share and not available around here.

    There’s a bus stop steps away from my door and I’m about 15 minutes (10km) to the Lougheed mall skytrain station. Cab fare shouldn’t be too bad if anyone decides to go home that way. Also, if you drive and need to crash here we have lots of room.

    Reply to the thread or send me a beermail and I’ll start a list of who’s coming and what your bringing. Surprises are great too, but let me know at least one of the bottles you’re bringing for the list.

    I would be totally interested in this and have plenty I could share, but unfortunately I will be in Montreal that weekend :slight_frown:

    On a positive note I've been able to make time away from this work trip to meet with some Montreal BAs and will be doing some in person trades.

    Let me know if you do this again or if the date gets changed.

    Awesome! Great work putting this together Rutager, that sounds fantastic. I'd love to meet up with you guys.

    I'm definitely around that weekend, but it's also the same day as the BC beer awards which I think I'm going to be volunteering at, sadly - and they run from 1-6, so I don't think the date works for me. I'd love to attend though, so I'll keep an eye on this thread and will definitely be down if the date got pushed back a week or so.

    As far as what I could theoretically bring... hmm. Maybe http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16866/47954 and http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/14879/47695? Or maybe one of the awesome bottles Phyl21ca sent me if I haven't consumed them all by then.

    Edit: Heading to PDX next week too, might well have some interesting things from there assuming a trade doesn't fall through... :slight_smile:

    Also got a lot of Cascade stuff if we end up with too many big stouts etc. Though really, is there such a thing as too many big stouts?

    I have some Bruery beers (Melange no 3, Smoking Wood Bourbon Barrel) and Firestone Succuba plus a few others thT are perfect for sharing.

    I would love to attend, but will be out of town that weekend too unfortunately. Would be great to meet some BC BA's, and definitely keen if there is a reschedule or a future meetup.

    3 might be a good number... no harming in taking the least popular one home if it comes to that (I know it seems unlikely but lets see how we feel after that double black damnation!). I'm sure to have a few fun bottles from Portland to bring - Fondue if you want to bring your melange instead that's fine with me, I've got plenty more to pick from.

    Of course, assuming we might be able to push the date back... how would Saturday 26th work for people? Rutager, especially, as our kind host for the afternoon / evening :slight_smile:

    That should work for me too. I will be heading to Mayne Island this weekend and will grab some beers from the cellar.

    This is looking great so far guys. With this group I predict some beery mayhem already. Lots of room for more though and spouses/significant others who aren't into beer are welcome to come (and laugh at the geekery)! :slight_smile:
