does anyone know anything about them or tried any of their beers? I see they won the Lord Dabblers cup this year but I haven't heard a peep about them otherwise.
They are new, man, NEW! They're so new that --unless you happen to subscribe to Cloudy Town Brewers' email list-- they might not've been on your radar (there's a lot going on around St. Cloud, including three more "Breweries-In-Progress.") There's a mention of their progress here (as well as Beaver Island, which will be all over the St. Cloud market this week): http://www.sctimes.com/story/life/food/2015/02/03/mnbeer-news-insider-feb/22825775/ Cheers!
Digby's @ Rosedale has their Brown Ale on tap now and they'll follow that up with their Oatmeal Cranberry Stout.
They are on tap at River in Hanover (from what I understand where they originally wanted the brewery) and at the newly open John Hardy BBQ in Albertville. Been meaning to check them out.
you rock for pointing out that John Hardy's opened a location in Albertville... as a Rochester native, I had no idea they were doing that. Super excited to have it a little closer (although being in the south metro, still a hike).
Only found out since I was following Lupine and they mentioned it. They haven't done much advertising, though I think the area might be ripe for a good restaurant. How is John Hardy's? While it maybe a hike, there is always the not so outlet outlet mall that could make the trip worth it.
I personally love it, it's been in Rochester for decades... they are somewhat similar in my opinion to ted cook 19th hole, with spicy hot bbq sauce and jo jo potatoes. man, now I am hungry.
Well with @jsdavis422 and your comments on it, I am more excited about them opening it up in Albertville. Though I question why Albertville, would have thought the other side of the city would be easier consider proximity to Rochester. Oh well, not going to complain. If they have a solid tap list, they would have a leg up on the rest of the bar/restaurants in the area as it is a craft beer waste land out here.
I've always been more of a Roscoe's man, but glad to hear John hardy is branching out. good barbeque is about all Roch had going for it IMO.
They should have a taproom opening eventually, the space they occupy is large enough to allow it. They are in a basement and the brewery is kinda stuck down there from what I can tell. Not sure when/if they are opening to the public. Beaver Island should be open for growler fills and I would assume on sale taps in a week.
This!!! I used to stay in Rochester one night a week for business..after about 6 months John Hardys was all I ate. Huge portions, incredible flavor..blew Roscoes out of the water in my opinion..Guess I'll be heading to Albertville!
Let's put it this way - John Hardys is so good that it hijacked a brewery thread on a beer website... It really is that good...
We just got back from John Hardy's where I also had a Lupine Brown Ale. The food was good, I would go back, but can't say it is the best BBQ I have had. If I was craving BBQ, it would be a toss up if I decided to go to JH or Space Aliens. The Lupine Brown ale was Ok, probably wouldn't reach for it again. I do want to try their oatmeal cranberry stout still though.
Lupine's liquor licence has been approved. Tasting room should open soon. Looks like they will only be selling growlers and offering samples. http://wjon.com/st-cloud-city-counc..._medium=referral&utm_campaign=newsletter_8689
They stopped in my bar in Chaska. Left a card. I emailed them to try their beers but never heard back from them.
