Just saw a FB post from Pint Defiance, showing a pic of Mac & Jacks Bourbon Barrel aged CDA. Whut? How did we not hear about this before now? I'm not a huge fan of CDAs in general, and it seems, to me, a bit of an odd choice for a BBal brew, but I'll give one a shot. For science only, of course.
Below Grade's Kiss Me Kate (Barrel-Aged Dangerous Kate) was a solid BA CDA, so I'd be open to it. Can anyone confirm if this is Mac & Jacks first bottling ever? If so, I'd hit it for that alone.
Well, if bottles make it up here to the Colonies, I'll surely be having one. Lord knows I've drank lots of bad beers for the tick. And science.
Terry. If they don't make it up your way, let me know and I'll grab one for you at PD (assuming it doesn't sell out by this weekend). Was going to shoot you a beermail about this, but I'm planning on coming up to Bellingham next Monday or Tuesday (it's been entirely too long since my last foray up that way), and so it would be easy enough for me to bring you up a bottle.
Thanks John, I'll look around the next day or two and see if I see it. Look forward to having you in town again. You're going to love Wander.
I have really dug certain CDAs myself. Granted, I've found a lot of variance in them, in terms of both quality and concept. If I come across it I might give it a whirl, though $15 for anything from M&J just sounds wrong to my ears.
I was ready to give up completely on CDAs, then FWs Wookie Jack single-handedly saved the style for me. And, $15 for a M&J does seem wrong, but we've proven that we'll pay these prices, can't blame the brewery for trying to get their share of our money.
