Also got 1 of each, bramble, vanilla and regular at total wine Everett this morning. Easy peasy. Happened to be at wegmans Burlington around 11 and checked to see what they had and were all out of the variants.

I was originally going to post that that’s mark up is outrageous, but a few posts later @DaaaaBeers paid $40 at fort point market so $8 more at a bar doesn’t seem that bad! I wouldn’t have pulled the trigger at those prices though.

Hmm, kind of disappoint compared to year's past.

Last year they had '13 through '17 of regular and the Northwoods.

I'll definitely still go tomorrow though and see what's left, because why not.

$48 at Hugh O'Neill's was for a bottle of Vanilla. See above, the $40 at Fort Point market was for Bramble.

Yes. Aren’t vanilla and bramble bottles the same price retail at places like total wine? I think 48 for a bottle at a bar is crazy when you could’ve picked it up at wegmans or total wine for like 25. But then I realized that dabeers got put in a corner at fort point for $40. I’m sure he made the trip there and puked in his mouth at the price but felt like that was his only chance at a bottle at that point and just sucked it up. I’m sure I would’ve done the same if I already committed to the drive.

You're not missing much by not getting the midnight orange variant. Had a 4 oz draft in Maine and what a syrupy mess. The regular I tasted beside was great as always.

What are the variants people are most excited about drinking? For me, wheatwine. Not even close. Actually, the Reserve should be delicious, too, but the wheatwine is something entirely new. Unsure about the bramble rye, but ... (shrugs).

    Anyone had the Vanilla yet?

Also, any other dark offerings at Hugh’s? They usually have a bunch of other random stouts.

Had it on tap at Stoddards for Black Wednesday. It was very good, just a level below Vanilla Rye.

This has to be the dumbest rumor going around today. Sam Adams Utopia. How is that distributed? This was definitely an excuse told to a store that didn't get anything and the store wasnt smart enough to know there aren't any ABV laws on beer in MA.

And shame on Fort Point, thats almost 2x MSRP.

This is not how distribution works. It was going between state lines, tons of new rules. Utopias come from in state.

It seems disingenuous, the ABV is too high rationale, even if it’s crossing state lines. DFH olde school is like 15%, WWS is 18%. Even the regular BCBS is 15.3%.

And Utopias is probably brewed in Cincinnati.

Wegman’s in Chestnut Hill still has plenty of regular for $10.99 and vanilla for $22.99. Hard pass on the vanilla at that price, but picked up a regular.

Ok so lets look at the actual ABV....Midnight Orange is 15.2, bcbs is 14.9..... soo what is the threshold? And if it is 15, how is dogfish head world wide stout/oak-vanilla wws on the shelf? That is higher and came from out of state. Or Avery Uncle Jacobs Stout? Thats 17. How about Avery Tweak, Pumpkyn, rumpkin? All of these came in this year, so how did that happen?

Massachusetts has never had an abv cap on beer and still doesn't.

The way I heard it was that the paper work submitted to mass or however a brewery registers a beer with the state, stated an abv that did not match the bottles so it was not allowed in mass. I assume they can fix the mistake and distribute the beer at a later date. This makes more sense to me than the abv cap since I’m pretty sure mass has no such cap.

Had my parents in town and couldn't dare leave my wife with them. Anyone have any hints where I might find any variants still within 20ish min of Medford, either still left or releasing another day?

I would've told them to go fuck themselves.

Completely ass fucking their loyal customers. That's a disgrace.

I was able to find Van in some stores in Reading and N Reading on Main St. If you call around I'm sure they tell you if they still have any.

Wait, this can't be the correct price. I am in the business, and I know how much this beer costs, I had it in my shop.

FP Market always seems like a pretty good shop from what I gather. Is it possible that OP typed wrong?!?!?!
