Probably would have tried to get a vanilla if I knew it made it into the evening some places, but kind of glad I didn’t at $23 a pop. That’s a fuckin ripoff.

And $48 at a bar is real bad, the day the beer is released no less.

I'll second this - it's a new beer coming into the state and the paperwork was not filled out properly. It's an open question as to whether it will be redistributed elsewhere or eventually come into the state. I heard this directly from the beer buyer at Blanchards Allston,

Sheeet at 23 each ifI but half a dozen. It doesn't seem that bad when you're used to trillium

Did you try the ‘13 and/or ‘14? If so how were they?

$1/oz (+/-) is pretty standard for the best BA stouts out there, so $10-12 for Regular is right on the mark. Variants at $23 would be right around $1.35/oz - not crazy at all.

I did. I liked the '13 the most of the three BCBS that were on tap that day (tried them all in a flight with Triple Barrel Epic as the fourth selection). I think '13 has really smoothed out nicely. '14 was OK too, but '13 was my favorite from the day. Prices were between $4 and $6 per each flight beer, I think, of those stouts I mentioned.

I didn't have the Vanilla BCBS for $48, but I wasn't put off by the price. Was lucky enough to find a couple bottles in the wild for between $23 and $25 each, but if I hadn't, might have thought about it. Look at the bottle list at places like Row 34, Ginger Man, etc. A 200 to 300 percent markup on cans and bottles in restaurants isn't uncommon.

    Thanks!

I don’t need a bottle of Vanilla, I have one at home.

I was asking about the ‘13 and ‘14 because I’d rather not get a flight full of these, I’ve done this before...you get really uh, buzzed.

Might do three samples of ‘13, ‘18 and CBS.

cracked a 2013 coffee on Thanksgiving and its super smooth with a good amount of coffee still which surprised me. Had this years regular and its on point. Great bourbon character and a tad hot but really good.

What are people's thoughts on the vanilla? I managed to grab 1 bottle and I haven't had a variant in the last 3 years.

Very vanilla heavy right now but still tasty. Will be interested to see what a year of aging does to it

I liked the Vanilla, but wasn't as blown away as I was expecting. Haven't tried the Bramble yet, but may hold off after hearing some people's thoughts. Many are saying to wait it out, similar to Regal Rye a few years ago.

Blanchard’s is overpriced but there are still about 4-5 cases of regular BCBS 17 for $15.99 just sitting on the floor.

Anyone see it on tap in the Boston area?

Hugh O'Neill's in Malden still has the '13, '14, and '18 regular on tap, CBS, Grimm Double Negative '17, Brooklyn Black Chocolocate Stout '17, Lagunitas Willetized '17, and Big Bad Triple Baptist.

I may be off on the year's on some of those, but I'm positive about the BCBS's and the Grimm. You can do 5 oz. flights of any of those for about $25 too.

They have some other good stuff on tap too. Oh, and Idle Hands is around the corner, and both Adelais and Galaxy Four Seam are tasting great. And Galaxy Four Seam is going away for 2019 and 2020 due to Galaxy being quite expensive.

Basically, good time to go to Malden. In addition to the solid tap list at Mystic Station.

Well, if you ever have something interesting to swap, I still have like a case of the '14. As great as it is, I don't often find time for the 14+%.

I got to have the Orange when I was up in NH last weekend. I thought it was interesting for sure.

Decided to open the vanilla and stick Die Hard on the Telly. Sure it's Xmas after all.

Really quite impressed. Unlike the regular, which is like being punched repeatedly by a boxer wearing gloves made of bourbon kegs, this is quite subtle.

The bourbon is just right and the vanilla muted enough to not be the star, rather a competent side kick.

Like Al, the cop in Die Hard.

    Stout, bourbon, vanilla

I have a bottle of vanilla and bramble that I am excited to try. I hope our tastes differ, or I get a better bottle!

    What in particular is gross?
