I'd make sure to check the date on the bottle to make sure it's not 2016...

Stopped at Dions in Waltham on the way home, grabbed the last bottle of BW and 3 allotment of BCBS. Still had decent amount of regular, not sure how much if any they had in back.

Drinking the barley wine. It's ok. Very sweet. Bit raw. Think the other bottles might need a wee while in the basement

Feels a bit like the Black Friday hype is over - at least for the non-variants. Doesn't change the beer, of course, but I've been to a number of places that have cases out and available with little to no limits. I wonder if they just produced a ton of it this year versus last year or if there is enough other good stuff out there where consumers just aren't allocating to BCBS. I was in CT on Black Friday and poked into a local store off of 84 and they said that they don't play the GI game, so they didn't get any. They did have the Stone Fyodor and other of that style from Stone, which I was far happier to find - despite pretty high prices.

Last year was the same, there was reg forever (there is still 2016 reg sitting in my local store and it’s been there all year)

It's been this way for the last few years, at least in the greater Boston area. The real chase is for the variants. Regular BCBS sits around by the case load for weeks after Black Friday and is easy to come by.

Even for variants, there’s not much of a chase as long as you’re willing to show up at the liquor store 15-20 minutes before opening on Black Friday.

Sigh. That I know that was a non-ironic statement really says everything about why I hate what the craft beer has become...

Idk, man. I don’t get the waiting for hours, camping over night, etc. but waiting 15-20 minutes? I’ve waited that long for a table at a restaurant before many times, it’s never seemed like a big deal. Not sure I get the difference.
That’s too bad. I was hoping for a big, sticky pastry stout with sort of a blueberry/marzipan/chocolate/candy/booze flavor profile. As long as this isn’t a Lizard of Koz situation, I’ll still drink it.

You might like it. It left me scratching my head. Should have traded it off for more coffee. Oh well.

Yeah, I showed up to Gordon's in Waltham 2 hours before open, what a tremendous waste of time with a bunch of jerks. I went to Total Wine in Framingham later that afternoon and was able to get more Coffee, and could have gotten Northwoods, 2016 BW, and BCBS, with seemingly no limit, with no problem.
