I dont think anyone claimed it was something new. But like many of your examples show, dba names are often used for deceptive purposes. Like the Gablingers/Rheingold example.

"Store brands", on the other hand, whether done in beer or other industries, isnt really about deception. So there are legit purposes to dba names.

"Anheuser Busch, Inc" still exists, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AB-InBev. TTB regulations require domestic breweries list the city the beer is packaged in or their "principal place of business" as long as it's also a brewery, not the corporate headquarters of their parent company. When Miller was owned by Philip Morris, their beers still said "Miller Brewing Co. Milwaukee, WI". Mendocino and Olde Saratoga beer labels list their brewery name and city, not "UB GROUP Bangalore, India".

Actually I do feel that way about milk, and pretty much anything I eat or drink. I want to know where stuff comes from, what's in it, and whether it's genetically modified or not. But that's another topic for another forum.

As usual, I learned something new from your post. Thanks for the info-- I stand corrected on my Budweiser label comment.

Nearly 30% of the reviews give it below a 1.5 :grimacing:
