Only the 2nd post but have a question in regards to this beer. Long story short beer store went out of business years ago and I bought a .8 gallon mad elf. It's either a 2011 or 2012. How long can I age this beer and is it worth it?

Side note to ppl trade bottles this big?

    Thanks

Edit. I bought the bottle in 2011 or 2012, not sure how long the store had it. I can't find a date

Any aged beer is worth a shot, imo. I'd say you would probably want to drink it soon though. I don't find a lot of American-Belgo ales are able to last for the really long haul. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the feedback. It takes up a lot of room, so will probably drink soon

Sounds like a good thing to bring to a party. Share the love. Or the disaster.

I always buy a decent amount of this beer and enjoy it over the year. I think the longest I have gone though is probably 18 months. It has always held up well, but I have proper storage for it. I would drink sooner than later.

I've currently got some inthe cellar going on 3 years, but at this point the oldest I've actually drank is a year so I can't help there. At a year I found it to be a bit smoother, but I wouldn't necesarrily say "better". That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to try one that was at least 4 or 5 years old.
