Madhouse Sour Release Party

    Madhouse Brewing Co. is having a sour beer release party this afternoon at 4. I have never had a sour beer from them, and was wondering if anyone else had? Is this going to be worth going to? They have 6 beers that they are releasing for this event.

    B1 of AM Haze and Satori Saison I thought were very good. AM Haze being very similar to Le Terrior for me. I'm interested in trying the Blue Dream and Biere des Moines (the latter which spent 8 months in bourbon barrels with Brett and should be very unique).

    I went to the release of the first batch of sours. I thought they were all good. I wasn't expecting much as I was never much a fan of Madhouse. Their "standards" are all pretty meh to me. I was at their barrel aged release party and I thought all of those were pretty good, and then the sour release was just as good if not better. I have changed my tune about Madhouse as I think this aging program is working for them. Now the bottle prices for the sours aren't great and I likely won't be buying anything (I also don't have room for more beer, I have a problem guys, I keep buying beer and cantdrink it fast enough).

    @BottleCaps80 what have you heard about the Blue Dream? I see it is going to be $20 a bottle.

    All I know is that it's a sour ale aged in oak barrels with blueberries. Sounds tasty to me!

    Blueberry is good. Cherry is terrible. Bierre Des Moines is phenolic band aid horrible shit.

    I really liked the Blueberry also. I didn't see it on BA and just added it. I have never added a beer before so not confident I did it correctly. I really liked the Haze also!

    Agree on the Blueberry. I think I heard the Cherry was a mix of Sour Diesel + CIB's Cherry Tart? I wasn't a huge fan of Sour Diesel from last round, but thought Cherry Diesel was an improvement, but definitely not close to as good as Blueberry. And yes, Biere Des Moines was god awful.

    See, I thought the Sour Diesel was better than the Cherry. I thought the Cherry had a definite metallic, and almost black olive-like off flavor. My favorite was the AM Haze by far.
