Hey, everyone! I'm heading down to Madison, to attend a training on Monday morning. Any recommendations for a tasty dinner and a few beers, on a Sunday evening? I'm staying kind of on the East side of town, as my training is bright and early in Sun Prairie. As far as food goes I'm up for anything. Bonus points for recommendations that aren't downtown. I usually hit up the Mr. Brews location over there, but their draft menu is looking kind of boring at the moment. It's full of beers I can get at the grocery store.
Dexter's for food and beer on the east side. Their tap list can be found on Digital Pour. BarleyPop is near Dexter's and is worth a stop for the variety of taps. They are having their 5th anniversary party this weekend so sure to be some nice leftovers. Menu on Untappd. The Malthouse is in this area too and typically has a decent draft and bottle selection. If you're in Sun Prairie, Sugar River Pizza has a pretty solid tap selection; see Untappd.
Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I'll probably try The Malthouse, as Dexter's & BarleyPop both close up shop early, on Sundays.
Brasserie V is a Belgian restaurant with an excellent tap list and great cans/bottles. Garth’s Brew Bar is right across the street and the Wine and Hop Shoo is next door for all your homebrew needs. All these places are walkable from Vilas Park/Zoo, which is a nice stroll in the evening to walk off those frites.
While not a brew pub, the Tip Top Tavern has a solid tap selection and very good food. It’s located north east of down town, out towards the airport / Madison College area.
