I know HF is hard enough to trade for as is but I'm also not familiar with availability of certain beers they produce. I'm a lover of all things chili stout and this one piqued my interest. Any idea what it's trading for currently?

I don't recall seeing this one traded much, however, in trade, this will likely command a brewery only release with small limits (M&C was limit 2) and a bottle count that was probably around 600 or 700 (but I'm not sure of the count). I'd guess that it would not trade as high as something like BA Abraxas or Assassin, however you'd probably have to give up more than a prop. I have not traded for one though and could be off so others can chime in....

FWIW - i thought that M&C 1, which had the highest bottle count and was the only one in 500ml bottles, was by far the best of the series.

    GL with your trade.

Welp, if that's the case then count me out haha. That's exactly the info I was looking for! Since it wasn't rated as high (91 I think) I was hoping it might not be held onto as tightly. Thanks for the response!

You may still be able to get one - never hurts to put up a trade request. However, in my experience, limited HF beers are hard to obtain because 1) they are usually very good and 2) they are really tough to obtain due to the location of the brewery. Also, I'd guess that people are holding on to these beers in order to complete a M&C series tasting.

Good luck with your trade, I hope that it works out.

It's infected anyway, so don't worry.

I'm somewhat lucky now and again, but most of my HF bottles are obtained through larger trades and usually for around face value for equal amount of Tired Hands growlers and limited releases (not from TH).

Someone I joked with on here about a Damon ended up sending me one and asked for only 1L growler of Tired Hands "whatever". I ended up sending him 2 growlers + another growler of Divine Retribution #3 as an extra + a bag of beef jerky...only to get a CW 16 as an extra from him as well.

I got BoT twice trading $4$ with limited, not so hard to get beers (can't remember exactly which ones), again as a part of a bulk trade involving Tired Hands growlers. Similarly, I got an M&C 4 the same way.

    Recently, I gave up a Parageusia1 for a BG&E. He extra'ed me an Arthur, I extra'ed him a Paraguesia1 glass.

The point, I guess, is don't be discouraged. There are more great and fair-minded traders out there. Keep getting different limited beers and put some aside for trade and keep an eye on the forum for ISO. Good luck!

For trade reference, I sent a MC4 and Rum Fayston for a DB Huna. I drank mine fresh and had no idea of the infection, but it seems pretty widespread at this point, almost every recent Untapped checkin reports that its off. So unless your looking for a sour stout with no chili presence....

I've been fortunate to run into many BA's as you just described. I have received many great beers, some unexpectedly, just by sending boxes back and forth blindly to friends I've met here. I'm not the least bit discouraged on this one and have many other chili style beers that I need to try which are more easily accessible than this. This place is great and I've ran into far more "giving" people than I have anywhere else through my walks of life. Cheers!

Man, I just saw that you've been on here for a while and have extensive trade history, not including the fact that I've seen you around forever now that I thought about it. Not sure why I thought you were new at trading, hence the "don't be discouraged" remark. Hahaha...sorry, my friend. Cheers!

I drank an MC4 about two weeks ago after reading some comments about a possible infection and it was fantastic. Just as good as the one I had fresh and absolutely no trace of infection. I can't say whether or not some bottles are infected, but it has not been an issue for me. Still one more to go though, so we will see.

Had one about a month ago at a share and it was most definitely infected (sour as hell), so seems like it's hit or miss on these.

I was able to set up a trade with a great BA (have traded with before) for this! You guys never cease to amaze! Thanks for all the insight and help on this one. I’ll let you know what I think about this brew as it will be my first stout from them. Cheers!

Personally, I wouldn't waste your time (or rare bottles trading for this one). It is awful. It is the only HF beer I've had that I have been really disappointed in. I typically love chilli beer too, but don't trade for this expecting a Huna or MC clone.

@dsigmon How'd this work out for you? I have a few left and I'm wondering about the Russian Roulette factor...

Mine was unfortunately infected and I drain poured it :slight_frown:

It fizzed up as soon as I opened the bottle which was followed by a slow pour it into a snifter which immediately became 85% head. Taste was soured and with the spices just not enjoyable. Le sigh.
