Is there anywhere downtown to find MadTree on tap other than the brewery? We were hoping to stop by before the Pearl Jam concert next Wed, but they don`t open until 4:00 and that will be pushing it I`m affraid. Would love to try Galaxy High, but may have to settle for visiting Rhinegeist since it`s pretty much downtown.
Rhinegeist is the better option anyway, MadTree and Galaxy High in particular are a bit over-hyped IMO.
I agree that Rhinegeist is better. You might be able to find both on tap at Yard House which is close to the arena. They usually have rotating locals on tap.
I`ll check out Yard House, just wasn`t sure if MadTree was only available at the brewery or not. Definately looking forward to Rhinegeist.
Most of the downtown restaurants / bars will have a beer from both Rhinegheist and Madtree. FYI: Pearl Jam fans having a charity fundraiser before the concert at Holy Grail Bar which is just diagonal from the Yard House in the Banks. Both bars will have local brews.
We will probaly stop by the Wishlisht Fundraiser briefly. I`m sure everywhere in the area will be pretty busy, but Wishlist events are usually slammed.
If the weather is nice, hit the Morlein Lager House---which is 100 yards away from Holy Grail--it has a great patio with sweeping views of the Ohio River.
After the concert, if you want to see what a real brewery looks like, take a cab to Rhinegeist and Morlein Tap Room.
I believe we are going to Rhinegeist at 4:00, then heading back towards Yard House and Moerlein. The show shouldn`t start until about 8:30, so that should be plenty of time. Probably swing by Ei8ht Ball / Party Source on the way into town.
Good call on the Rhingeist visit...you won't regret it, and while it will be quiet that early in the day, just walking around the brewery is inspiring for a beer geek. You can feel the spirits of the old German immigrants from 100 years ago. For a unique beer experience....plan another trip to town for cincybrewerytours.com..........they'll take you into the catacombs beneath the streets of Over-the-Rhine where the old Germans stored their beer....the tour begins in the Morlein Tap Room which is quite steeped in history.
