I was just at my local store and sitting on the floor was twelve packs of magic hat samplers and #9 cases! Anyone know if this is going to be a regular thing or what?
Yes, much better options here, wish we would have gotten Shorts temporarily again although it sat on shelves last year it was a nice option.
Shorts will be making it again, only in smaller numbers. A lot fewer stores getting it (around 20) but they will be back.
Magic Hat certainly isn't anything special, but it's nice to have #9 around as a random "candy beer" to mix in here and there. Over the long haul they'll probably end up like most of the other large players that come into CO. They'll fly off the shelves for a few months and then they'll stagnate once people take them for granted, or simply realize that we already have something better.
Talked to the good people at Short's a few days ago and got the details for their GABF plan. Check the blog for a list of the beers they're sending, the stores that will be carrying them. I also got info on what bars and what kegs are heading our way. http://brewtallyinsane.com/2012/10/03/shorts-brewing-is-bringing-bottles-back-to-denver-for-gabf/ Spoke to one of the Magic Hat reps last night. They sent #9, Circus Boy and mixed packs out here earlier this week, plus kegs for a few bars. They're hoping to keep a permanent presence here in CO. Personally, I think Domingo's comments above are pretty spot on, but time will tell.
This is just a temporary thing right? I've heard conflicting information to that regard. Magic Hat isn't distributing to Colorado permanently, right?
I'm embarrassed that MH is being sold in CO. Don't let it sour your opinion of VT beer (they are no longer VT owned anyway).
Thanks for the info. I'd been trying to see if we can get these back in, as they flew off the shelf last year (at my store, anyway). Bummed to know they didn't even try to contact us, but I guess they want their beers to sit at bigger stores for months on end. We try to support them, probably won't any more.
